All your dress patterns sound lovely. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them. If I had to choose my favorite it would be the Gigi dress. I can picture you wearing it with a little capelet or bolero; it would be stunning. That said, if I were you, I’d probably choose the Alana dress because you know it will fit and flatter you as the Atelier Jupe patterns always do, and it is a really lovely dress. I like the Magnolia dress, as well and I am sure it would be lovely if you chose it, but I think if you were trying to pattern match, that dress could be a real fabric hog. I know whatever you choose with be gorgeous. I like the idea of learning bag making with a kit and a sewing course. I wish I’d done that for my first one. Doing it on my own with an online free pattern wasn’t the best idea, but I did end up with a bag that suits my needs well, even if the interfacing is a little on the weak side. I really love having a bag that has pockets that suit my needs!!! I am sure you are going to sail right through making your bag whenever you get around to sewing it. I finished my shorts and am so thankful they fit well as I needed some denim shorts. My sewing mojo has left the building, so I’m taking a short break. The garden is keeping me busy and I’m thinking about getting into some hand embroidery or crocheting to mix things up a bit. I hope you have a lovely week ahead and you and your family are staying cool.

Hi Nadine. I’m glad you finished your shorts. I wanted to sew some shorts but haven’t yet this summer. I hope your garden is doing well. We have some tasty summer vegetables. I don’t do very well with flowers so I didn’t grow any this year. After I look through my fabrics to see what will work for my Frocktails dress, perhaps it will be easier to pick one of them. Thank you for watching as always. Have a wonderful weekend. 😊

I vote for either the Magnolia dress or the first dress. You could extend the first dress pattern to a long or midi length dress as well. Create the magnolia with the short flutter sleeve it you think you might wear it more often. Both would be beautiful. Thank you for the inspiration. I need to find a little time to sew again. Summer has been busy with the grandchildren. I look forward to your video’s on your channel.❤

Thank you. ☺️ I will likely use the modest top with flutter sleeves if I make the Magnolia dress, but I would use the longer skirt. Glad you enjoy watching my channel.

Thanks for the review. Thinking about trying this myself. What weight denim did you use ? I was going to go for 13oz so I’m trying to figure how much interfacing I need to do or if the structure is ok that heavy
@MountainAccentsSewing8 күн бұрын
I don’t remember the exact weight. I think it was around 10 oz denim, definitely a medium weight. If you’re using a 13 oz denim I believe you could use a lighter weight interfacing.

I somehow missed this video when it came out. Most of us can relate only too well to having full fabric storage facilities. I may be approaching full button storage facilities as well now. Our local Hobby Lobby is downsizing their button selection, and they put a lot of buttons on sale. I bought the ones that were the styles and colors that I would normally use. For some reason I like metal buttons, and they were clearancing a ton of them. For a few seconds after seeing the thread I had envisioned a glorious embroidered amethyst colored linen fabric in my brain, so seeing a fabric with so little of the purple threw me. After giving it a little thought, it really is a nice fabric, and I am sure you will come up with just the right pattern to make your fabric shine. You have a gift for matching fabric and patterns.
@MountainAccentsSewing17 күн бұрын
Thank you, Nadine. I do try to give a lot of thought to picking the right pattern for a fabric. Last year I remember saying I didn’t really have a stash. Hahaha. It doesn’t take long to accumulate a lot. I need to find another container for buttons too. I hope you are doing well and happy sewing. 🧵 ✂️

I really like that dress on you! Both the print and the style suit you well. I can't wait to see what you choose to wear to Frocktails. You've got plenty of time to decide. I'm sorry about your peach tree. I wonder if it was diseased and that might have been contributing to the irregular plum production. I am thrilled you had a chill day to relax and sew. We all need those sometimes. My son was here for a visit, and I spent a lot of time mending his comfy cargo shorts, but other than that no sewing here. I had a dress in the queue but that isn't working out so I'm thinking some new shorts are in order. I don't know what it actually ended up being today, but the forecast said 99 today. I'm having to water my little garden every day now as it's been so dry here. And to think how much I was longing for warmer weather! Something cool to wear will definitely be my next project.
@MountainAccentsSewing26 күн бұрын
99. That is too hot. I guess everything needs extra water. I hope you had a good visit with your son. It was a peach tree that broke and had to come down. I believe it may have been diseased but I couldn’t figure out how to save it. The plum tree is healthy, so hopefully, it will continue to flourish. I whipped up the pajama bottoms. I am not sure what project to work on next, maybe shorts? I hope you have a good week and stay cool in this heat. 😊

It definitely is one of my favorite boxes. The buttons are so much fun to sort. I’m glad you received a color that you like also.
@amierikke622529 күн бұрын
I had to cancel mine, I also loved receiving it and I felt good supporting Andrea but it was becoming a financial strain I couldn’t justify. I’m tall, almost 6’ and “fluffy” 😉. I could only make simple tops out of the fabric, not even a skirt or certainly not a dress. And I’m very good at pattern Tetris to get the most out of fabric. Also some of the fabric’s color ways were just not for me. So I’ve cancelled a couple times in the past and came back, but this time I’m not going to restart my subscription again. I’m looking forward to seeing how your destashing goes!
@MountainAccentsSewing29 күн бұрын
I definitely get that you need more fabric if you are that tall. Sometimes, I find a pattern I believe is perfect for the fabric but realize I need more. However, right now I need to sew what I have in my stash. And, that’s going to take a while. 😀

It must feel good to be that close to finishing your son's quilt!!! I have zero skills in print mixing so I won't make any suggestion for your binding, but I am sure it will be lovely. I can't remember if you said whether you were doing the quilt as you go method of if you were doing it by machine. Oh how I love plums. I hope you enjoy every single one of them. They must be especially precious given all you've gone through to finally get a good harvest. We ate them a lot growing up, but I don't buy them as often as I should. My husband and I need to visit the farmer's market; I bet we could find some nice ones there. I finally finished both sewing machine covers. I used decorative stitches on the pockets in colors to compliment the print, and I'm happy with the end product even if I made some poor choices along the way. Right now I have Vogue 7724 an OOP Koko Beall dress pattern on my cutting table. I bought some cute bee fabric (with hives and honey & bees) that I plan to use. My husband went with me to Jo-Ann's and encouraged me to buy it since I'm always bragging on the bees pollinating my garden plants. I bought all that was left on the bolt, but I still may have to shorten it a bit. I'm not sure how much I'll have with matching the front pattern pieces, but I will find a way to make it work.
@MountainAccentsSewingАй бұрын
The bee fabric sounds pretty. I love honeybees and prints with bees and honeycomb. I am using a sewing machine to sew the quilt, and I have made up the pattern as I go. I have taken rough measurements so I do need to add a bit more to make it a queen. There’s nothing better than getting fresh plums off the tree. Store bought ones do not have good flavor. I made plum jam today. Yum. 😋 I hope you get a lot of time for sewing. Have a wonderful weekend. 😊
