Until today, I'd only heard Cliff sing this and I thought he'd written it until Wiki enlightened me and allowed me to find Dave Townsend.I read that Dave wrote this when his girlfriend was away on holiday. If that's true, wow - what an honour to have such a beautiful and emotional song written for or about you. Thank you Mr Townsend for gifting the world with this incredible piece of music and thank you Steve Parsonsfan for bringing Dave's version to light.
Merci Steve, pour tout ce travail. Quelles découvertes ! Continuez !

Cliff Richard could have left this just as it is and put his name on it. I wonder how many would have noticed. DT was that good. :)

It may be rude to say this, but there are some people in Japan who still play the same music as when they were in a band even after going solo, and it's hard to understand why they left. But it's clear that Terry wanted to make this kind of music. He is very naive in every song, and he gently leans on me like a kind friend.

This song sounds exactly how I hav felt the last 5 years after losing my husband after a year almost after Dean passed away. It’s been the most painful 5 years I woke up several times from crying in my sleep calling out my husbands name ❤️😢

Hello, I'm from Japan. A few months ago, I saw this channel and wanted to get Terry's CD, but it's hard to buy products from old artists. After searching for it in many online shops, I finally found it, and it arrived today. I was so happy because I was about to give up.

For those listening to this great song by Dean Ford, my earlier comment was in reference to another song and I sent the comment on not knowing that this video had moved in without my knowing it. I am of Scottish extract and have always loved Deans voice. I believe I recognized how good he was when I found a video of him singing "Silent Night." Sorry about the mixup, but glad that I gat to hear this great song of Dean"s again. I'm aware that he died recently in California and I think I have found most of his production in recordings. One of my Great Grandfathers was from Ayrshire! Cheers!

Brian and Nicole: This is one of the very best renditions of this timeless song! I also love the parallel rendition with Daron Bradford with his clarinet!

March, 2024 - Was watching a dude react to I Robot. Thought about how much I liked the vocalist on Day After Day. Went to Wikipedia, saw the name Jack Harris, looked up his entry and saw that he released a single. Came back to UTube and voila, here is Sail Away. After listening, I am hearing the song in my head. Very catchy tune. Very well done for Steve and for Jack. Thank you muchly, Ken
