DAVE TOWNSEND - Miss You Nights

Never before released, here is the original version of "Miss You Nights" written & performed by DAVE TOWNSEND. Aside from his solo material, he is well known for being a vocalist for THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT. This features orchestration by ANDREW POWELL, who was also a member of The Alan Parsons Project. Also featured are the late great Geoff Emerick (engineer "Sgt. Pepper"), together with a very young tape op Pete Henderson, another favorite engineer of McCartney and producer of Supertramp’s ‘Breakfast in America’. This song has been covered by Cliff Richard & Art Garfunkle among others, but this is the original version that has never appeared anywhere else.

Until today, I'd only heard Cliff sing this and I thought he'd written it until Wiki enlightened me and allowed me to find Dave Townsend.I read that Dave wrote this when his girlfriend was away on holiday. If that's true, wow - what an honour to have such a beautiful and emotional song written for or about you. Thank you Mr Townsend for gifting the world with this incredible piece of music and thank you Steve Parsonsfan for bringing Dave's version to light.

A VERY big thanks for posting this ! It's an absolute gem of a song ( among the best lost love songs ever written in my opinion ) and I had the Art Garfunkle version of it on vinyl , but it's always a treat to hear the original ! Thanks !!

Thank you so much for posting this ! I've heard Art G singing it many times and also Cliff Richard , but it's so good to hear it performed by the guy that wrote it ! What a gorgeous song. I know the Cliff Richard version that is amazing. But it is lovely to hear the original composer's version. This equals Cliff's version. (He sounds like David Soul in places.)

Never heard this song before. But very nice song. I think it's great that you collect songs from people that have participated in Alan Parsons albums. I have always loved his music. There is one musician you maybe haven't found yet. David Pack. I have his album from 1985 "Anywhere you go" Listen to track 2, "I just can't let go". Very nice song. But all the tracks on the album are great.
