I understand the necessity for this, I get it, highly populated areas, especially in European countries have just run out of room but my thing is this, in the US, when you buy a plot, it’s yours forever, you’re not “renting” it. I don’t understand why they don’t do what most cemeteries do and start off somewhere way out in an undeveloped area, then you never have to worry about running out of room. Most the newer cemeteries you find here in the US are surrounded by hundreds of acres of open fields… I dunno, just weird to me I guess but that’s what happens with different cultures I suppose…

Absolutely fascinating. Thanks for sharing and please show more if you can as its so interesting to see what remains after X amount of years. Someone may correct me if im wrong but as i understand it here in the UK we usually pay for the plot for 100 years and after that it is then free to be reused if needed. You are a real character Martin.

This is surprising to me as a US citizen, because almost every dead person I've known would have had their grave replaced if we also did this. Even a girl I knew who was murdered when we were barely 21 has now been in her grave for 18.5 years.

Makes a lot of sense. Re use plots after half a century or when there is no longer family to visit. So much land in North America is used (and contaminated) for burring the dead

In the USA we have LOTS and LOTS of space. There are even videos of old graveyards that have been forgotten and lost. Someone walking around the woods or desert finds them again.

Absolutely disgusting and disrespectful. Germany expects the deads family to pay every 10 to 20 years a tax in the thousans to ensure the grave is undisturbed. I call that blackmail. Its not the lad making the videos fault he just doing his job. But it is not right its not respectful and it robs loved ones and friends any chance of visiting a grave to pay respects. Let the dead lay in peace.
