I know that I'm pronouncing some words the wrong way, like psychiatric, and that I'm making some words up or ommiting letters but I hope that it wasn't too painful and turned out to be watchable in the end. There will be another part of that, which I filmed in one sitting but before that I want to finish some of my much more exciting projects, like the hospital wall, that you can see in the end or my rotting clothes experiment, which should produce some interesting results by now. Thank you for watching and stay tuned. Your feedback means the world to me and keeps me wanting to share more. Thank you for being my viewer 🙂🖖🦴⚰🪦

I bought some beautiful brass fingerplates and matching door knobs from an architectural salvage yard near Sydenham in 2000, and was told they'd come from Cane Hill Hospital. I'm not sure something so pretty would be used on a ward, so maybe they came from offices at the hospital.

Snipits from past lives, all very Human and real. I was a carer for 30 years and I still remember people I looked after all them years ago... Birthmarks/ conditions/ personalitys/ how they liked there tea Ex Ex. And the Story's they shared with me where all amazing, some Happy. Some Very Sad indeed.. Dementia patients would often repeat over and over again a selection of words which make you wonder what they ment, and what makes them choose them. Others shared there Story's so I Could carry on remembering parts of there lives when they passed away, I Think about there precious Story's As Gifts. And I can remember for them now there In Heaven🦋

I used to read the files when I worked there in 1980 as a floor cleaner.

What I would give to work there at that time. It must've been a little self contained world in there. God I miss this place.

@@MartinsGraveyard a weird place indeed. there was a social club and the Irish vicar used to get plastered on a Saturday night and carried home by 4 men and the next day, Sunday, gave sermons in the church with a stonker of a hangover.

@@John-wo5bp Strange that the boots held for so long, given that there was no plastic back then. Maybe they buried him only in boots 🙃

@@MartinsGraveyard who knows I suspect from period was a pirate they wore boots as did highway men like dick Turpin is why I find your job interesting never know what you find or see i used to do archaeology found lots of skeletons and leather from 1300 preserved because of good soil conditions like bones soil can make bones crumble completely away 💀☠️

I believe that when the hospital was closed, all the records were left in the building. There are a few videos showing how the records were still there after the building became derelict and vandalised. The plan was to remove all the graves of patients who had died over the decades, to cremate them and scatter the ashes in a public garden in Croydon.
@MartinsGraveyard
@MartinsGraveyard Жыл бұрын
Yes I'm aware of that. I took them myself from there right before the demolition started. They did that thing with the ashes in the end but they were scattered on the cemetery.
