Please make more of these stargazer types. They're worth thousands when they're unique and from your own imagination

He's fabulous! Can you paint straight onto the clay or do you definitely need to use the gesso please? I'm creating a large costume accessory for a Halloween costume for a party on 19th so worrying about getting everything dry and painted 😂🙈
@UltimatePaperMache3 ай бұрын
You can paint directly on the dried paper mache clay - but do be sure it's dry all the way through before you paint it. It will dry faster in front of a fan. I hope you're having fun with it. 😊

I used your new paper Mache clay recipe on my sculpture. Can I still put a thin layer of joint compound on it so I don't have to sand the sculpture? Thank you
@UltimatePaperMache3 ай бұрын
Sure - that will work. :)

Wow! Love the metallic paint! Now I think he's a Mayan or Aztec style of spaceman lol I did go and look at the stargazer fish ... You made this one really pretty compared to his family 😂 And OMG that echidna ❤ ... I saw a roadsign for one when I was in Australia and I thought it was a joke but they are real. Did you know the baby ones are called Puggles? 😊

Hello mrs good I'm following you for a while now and i really enjoy your content may i ask if possible please upload a video of making bauta mask tutorial, i really love bauta mask but i don't how i can make those strange chin with paper mache clay Thanks a a alot
@UltimatePaperMache5 ай бұрын
I think you could make a Bauta Mask with the Blank Mask Form - it's a really easy shape, but it has the nose and eye holes. You could shape the bottom chin portion to make it look like the traditional mask, and shape the top the way you want it. You might even be able to add some of the fancy raised designs that are on a lot of them, using hot glue. You can see that video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6HHf3ZtariDlbs

Hello Joni, I'm new to your channel and am interested in your paper mache recipe. I have only one question, how much shrinkage is there between the moist paper mache and total dried? My name is Elizabeth and I live in Australia. Love your work xx
@UltimatePaperMache6 ай бұрын
Hi Elizabeth. I've never measured the wet and dry paper mache clay in any formal way. It will shrink as it dries, like any air dry clay will. But it only matters if you put it over a hard armature, like a glass bottle. If you do that, it will crack. But if you make your armature like I did for this silly guy, you shouldn't have any problems with it.
@lizfletcher20726 ай бұрын
@@UltimatePaperMache thank you for that. I have found that the normal air dry clay shrinks on drying to a much more degree than usual clay. Again, thank you for your wonderful recipe, and your quick response. Enjoy your beautiful work! 🌹

Do you need to wear a mask? I checked my drywall joint compound and it says i should wear a mask while sanding it
@UltimatePaperMache5 ай бұрын
Yes, I always wear a mask when I sand anything. You don't want those tiny particles in your lungs.
@FlyingFerg5 ай бұрын
@@UltimatePaperMache what type of mask? Would a regular medical mask work or should I go buy a respirator or a painters mask?
@UltimatePaperMache5 ай бұрын
@@FlyingFerg I just use the kind that are left over from Covid, but I'm not an expert - you might want to ask the guys at the DIY store when you buy your joint compound. But this is the first time I've sanded paper mache clay in years. I'm usually a lot more careful when I apply it, and if it still isn't smooth enough I add a paper-thin layer of joint compound, and 'sand' it with a lightly damp rag. There's really no reason to sand it at all, if you don't want to.
