Absolutely amazing. Such attention to detail and a brilliant narration. Well done you. I hope you enjoyed modelling this as much as I enjoyed watching you do it. Simply brilliant! Thank you.

Hi there, I am following this tutorial and I have a question. What happens between 7:14 an 7:18 that smoothes out the circle at the top? I just can't reproduce this, anything I try. :(

At the ground level, between the arches, they had shops. The columns next to these arches have slots in their sides (in the opening) where they inserted wooden boards that got fixed with a wedge at top. When all the shops were closed, imagine a platoon of watchmen walked around the Colosseum. The idea of using columns for shops of variable sizes with "flexible system walls" already existed in the basilica architecture/building form. Here they had wooden sticks at, say, 8 ft high between the outer wall and the inside column opposite that hole. Tapestry over it and you had your system wall. Between two columns was a very nice shop, but fancy ones could have (afford) more than one section. The money and jewels traders would have their tables in the centre lane. Doors on one side, closed at night, watchmen, and nobody would get inside to steal. So the basilica form started as shopping mall.

Simply amazing on all levels - research, details, modeling, texturing. Also great to get see a breakdown of the issues faced in the process both historically and in Blender and how they seem to line up. I could easily watch a full documentary on this process. Hats off!

If I remember correctly, there should be a pack for ancient Greek people for blender, by Martin Klekner: they're not Romans and I don't know if they're suitable for the crowd add-on you use, but maybe they could be adapted quite easily 😉 youtube.com/@martinklekner?si=gGICgBdXxSNLeRHa

Beautiful work as ever! Have you considered modeling an architectural fantasy scene à la Ferdinando Galli Bibiena's or Giovanni Battista Piranesi's works? I would love seeing one of those in 3D

Never will I be as good as you. Never will I also study things I do the way you do. Never will I do what you do. But I will always, open myself a cold beer in the evening and with utmoast interest enjoy your tutorials, expand my knowledge about arts and ancient architecture and of course enjoy in English with Italian accent. Your tutorials are like audiobooks except in 3d :) Molto bene!

24 minute video of meticulously recreating and rebuilding the Colosseum and all you show is a single finished render and one semi-finished with transparent sky. Come on, I hope you're gonna make some fully rendered animated tour...

Nice to meet you. I am a student studying computer graphics in Japan. I have been struggling to create the Colosseum for the past few months, and I came across this video. I was very impressed with the detail of this CG reproduction of a historical building. If possible could you please let us know where you are finding your material? Keep up the good work with your creator activities! We are rooting for you.
