I am intrigued to know how someone can become a member of the Amish church if they were not born or lived with Amish, if that is possible. Or are people not accepted if they were not born in an Amish community?

How can you find the one God wants you to be with in 20 sq miles? How can it be real if its just in your town or state. Its arranged love or marriage. Limited options. In my opinion how can the Amish understand agape,eros and phileo love when their rules, lifestyle and pharasiee ways go against it. Its like being on a deserted Island you grow on each other but its not true love.

What is true love?
@3941602
@3941602 11 күн бұрын
@@theamishpotato That my friend is the age old question from time. I would say their are universal themes and ideas world wide from all grouos of people that have similarities in what love is. I would say look up in the Bible and research Agape,Eros and Phileo love. I think prayer and asking God to bring someone jnto your life the one he has planned for you. I think you also will know deep in your heart and spirit. I think its someone that loves your perfections and imperfections and is unconditional. True love is sacrificial. I think you need to believe in the idea of soulmate and true love to be able to find it firstly if you dont believe it than it wont happen.I think there are clues in Hods word on this topic. Its a spiritual and cosmic connection when you find that person. I can say that you can put 2 strangers on an Island and they will come together for survival and grow on each other rather having Nature be the influence rather than true love. So many get im loveless marriages or get together for matters of convenience. Basically close roomated and yes you create a famiky but their is a void inside for sure. I feel if your world is just a few square miles in some county somewhere you are on an Island and getting married becomes a tradtion and duty rather than for love. The population pool is small when its only Amish for Amish. In my opinion the one that God has for you is just down the road everytime? I mean true love just a buggy ride away? I cant see it. It becomes a LLC partnership rather than a marriage. Its a big world out there Things happen and God works in mysterious ways. Whos to say A Ohio Amish is t supposed to Marry a Missouri Amish girl? Anyways whats your thoughts? What do you think true love is? I enjoy your content and your testimony. Thanks.

@@3941602 I don’t believe in “true love”. However there is something to meeting that special someone where the “the stars align”. You know, “the one”, where you almost instantly know this is the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. This happens all the time within a 20 mile radius in Amish communities. I’ve heard many talk about it. Is it with everyone in every community? I doubt it but I would say it’s the case with 99% in the community I come from. People in smaller communities will find partners in other states. And then there is the cases where some are single until they get tired of their single Amish life so they leave and often get married not to long after that. But this feeling of falling in love is just a temporary thing and often only lasts a few years into the relationship and then is replaced by a deeper love. A love that is more of an action than a feeling. So do I believe in true love? Like the fairy tale love? Nope. I do believe there is something to “falling in love”. It happens. It happened to me but I’m not married to her. So is it true love? Not necessarily.

@@theamishpotatoWhile I respect your opinion I would Anyone stuck on a deserted Island 1 man 1 women will by nature create feelings its human. You cant recreate the feeling if love by proxy. Thats why 2 co workers a man and a women working side by side for 50 years wont be in " true love. Entering into a partnership before the age of 21 and haveing children because of tradition does not foster true love. Companionship, duty to family, and the pressure of community force alotta people to no together with no escape. Loveless marriage I would imagine is more common than not. The Amish seemed groomed from childhood to find a partner within their youthgroup. Not many older single Amish their destiny is decided and designed by them. You need new workers for the company and to keep the community running. The corperation must be fed. I dont believe in fairy tell love but I would say its a spiritual and Godly action. Chemsitry, attractivness,smell,background, religion all play a part. Yes love is more than a verb its an action. At one point the World was full of tribes and tribal groups but because of Love were able to meet outside their tribe and well create our world. You need to believe in true love or what is the point. Im not talking lust, or butterflys or a crush. Line up 100 beautiful women yes we will be physically attracted but their wont be any that create that spark of interest. Attraction is not love. Im not saying love at first sight thats fairy tale but I do believe in true love and that their is someon out their by Gods design planned for you. The Amish by religion other than African or Amazonian tribe have a very tiny group to choose their life partner from. Catholic,Christian, Buddhism, Islam, Jewish ect. Its just my opinion and belief. Alot of people that no nothing about social dynamics and dating often confuse those first.butterflys or honey moon period as love and Im talking about something diffrent Maybe a closed communitt alotta the Amish think their initla crush is the one cause they have no measuring stick or meter. Then the pressure and tradition of date a year,get married, have kids right away bonds you, but superficially. Its the spackel but the foundation was never their to begin with. The love that grows is just emotional bonding based on life steps but the love was never their to begin with. Its like keeping up with joneses. Everyone gets married and has kids cause well thats what we do and well I kinda like her so will settle and just go thru the motions. I think alotta Amish who never have held hands, or hugged a girl or even kissed a girl their dating confuses those intial feelings as love. Its like being in 5th grade I remember I fell in love with my classmate but it wasnt love it was just a butterfly crush. Same with the Amish. I hope you find who you are looking for and that you find love and happiness. I listened to your story so I know that you "love" someone in your communtiy and had to make a hard choice.

The love of your life is within 15 miles. Closest thing to arranged marriage in the USA. Most marry the children they grew up with in school. Its love just business partners and roommates. I mean its like being on a deserted Island eventually you will grow on each other. Amish dont know true God given love nor the 3 types agape, eros and phileo. Agape is Gods love to man and he wants to bring souls into his kingdom. Amish dont prothelyze nor share agape love. Eros or romantic love No way you can find that with in a few districts or a few miles in a group . Its not real Phileo love fellowship or brotherly love Amish cannot know this love as they dont fellowship with others in Christ but also block out the world. Think about the mental disconnect and mental issues that run rampant.

My testimony. "Today is the day of salvation!" I got this Divine information, while participating in a service as a young woman of age, when I still was in the adversary's cage. The preacher called us forward, to repent and receive the Lord, but I sat there as a coward, didn't dare to get on board! Suddenly, these words he did share, "There's a young woman here, which desires to come forward, but you do not dare. Come now, and let the Lord come in, so He finally can remove your sin! It is in His loving will, so His plan for you He may fulfill." Immediately, I knew it was to me, and at this time I was very shy, you see. But I just felt a Divine power and boldness, urging me up and forward, overcoming my cowardness! That glorious even, I invited The Lord into my heart, and He has promised to never be apart. He filled me with His marvelous peace, so that all the fear within me had to cease. Some time after this, I did realize, that in The Holy Spirit I should baptize; receive His power into my life, so I not in my own strength had to strife. One even in prayer I sat, I considered that it all for me was pat. So I started to thank Him that He had given it to me, before it had come to be. Suddenly a new language I felt inside of me, urging me to let it free. So I opened my mouth and let it come out! Oh, such glorious release, full of His love, joy and peace! At last, bornagain I had became ; a new creation in the Lord, never again the same! I felt so vividly alive then, just as a brand new woman. Was it really so simple? I recall; it is amazing Grace above all! You can find more poems here afreegift2youpoems.blogspot.com

Hello, here is a girl from Spain who has been following you for a few days after seeing you in an interview with someone here on KZbin. I am catholic and I know little or nothing about the protestant religion but I understand that the King James version of the bible is the closest to the catholic one. But I have a question, does the king james bible you currently use contain the apocrypha or is it something you don't want to know about? Most Catholics in my country, if they are very religious, read the new testament on a daily basis, but there is no habit of reading the bible

@@theamishpotato Hi. If you find that out I would love to know. I'm just curious. I was reading about it but could only find that the early publications of the king James bible did include them. But nothing as to why they were subsequently removed. I was also able to find out that Martin Luther considered those books as non-canonical books and that is why he did not include them at the time of the Protestant reformation. Others, too, put it down to the laboriousness of translating the texts by hand at that time and to poor translation. So it is really complicated to know

I am always amazed how "work arounds" can be found to make things acceptable for your religion when it comes to profit. Generators to provide evil electricity for your machines and so on. I really don't care, but don't give me that crap about not living like the "English". I'm still gonna order my bar stools from an Amish builder because they do it better, but when you fire up the oil lamps at night and your kids take off in their Corvette to go party for the night, sleep tight cause I don't give a shit, just keep making that kick ass furniture! More power to you
