Welcome to The Amish Potato’s Channel. My name is Cj Miller. I was raised Amish in Shipshewana, IN. I was Amish until I was 16 years old, when I started dressing “English”, drove a car and partied on the weekends. This is called Rumspringa.
I did this until I was in my late twenties. I then briefly joined the amish church, left again, and moved to Idaho where I discovered the truth of who Christ is, married my lovely wife and am now sharing my story on KZbin.

I totally get it. There have been times where someone said something funny just before the Bishop called for prayer. It is agonizing trying to keep from "fuhspritzing"! 😂

Funny this comes up now. Why do Christians pray before meals and not before anything else such as using the bathroom??These are thoughts I’m thinking today.

I believe it's appropriate to acknowledge God for supplying all of our needs, physical and spiritual. He gives us the strength and wisdom to earn a living or barter services or goods. We ask him to let that physical food strengthen us just as His written word strengthens us spiritually.

@@riprau Absolutely! I grew up ritualistically praying before each meal too often without thought of what I was actually doing. Recently I’ve been thinking about it more. I don’t always pray before meals now but I try to keep a thankful attitude not only for daily “ bread” but all blessings I receive from the benevolent God I serve.
