I am keeping the whole 9-s set as one of the best available. Nevertheless, I feel it is rather improper to force those heroic musicians breaking their backs over their instruments dress like pinguins up to their neck while the conductor is in T-shirt. It seems abusive.

When you listen to Paavo's 5th, you'll note he was one of the early conductors where you can hear the piccolos in the last movement the way LVB intended them to be heard.

Una de las mejores interpretaciones, por no decir la mejor, de esta sinfonía, muy superior a la que el mismo P. Jarvi grabó con la Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. Extraordinaria. Deberían pasarla a CD.

I'd love to hear this crew doing the other 8. The winds sound good, and so does the brass. It wants a bit of weight in the bass, but it is so difficult to convey the parts well in this format. The work done here is quite respectable. Damn, that recap in the first movement, and that coda, what an astounding work of art! Bravo!!
