I have 8 to 10 M65s, standard OG-107 military issue, also into woodland color. Then, "made in china" Brandit copies, black...not as good, but acceptable quality, arms a bit too long, seams are worse, but fits otherwise fine. Its the best jacket i've ever had, and i've got to tell you, i do have all in all like 20 jackets - into winter (with liner), fall or spring - besides summer, i always love since decades to wear the M65! Nothing better around, plus, i can always put my stuff into the 4 huge pockets, go figure !

I have 2 of the same, the first is in reserve as the Velcro has failed on the inner pockets and cuff. I’m using the second now. Bought them at the same time years back. They’re my go to for winter hunting. I can get 3 layers underneath for static stuff. The hood is roomy enough that I can wear a thick woolly hat, and a Colombia Gallatin wool jacket with its own hood. The effect in bitter winds is like being indoors! I’ve also used it with one merino thermal underneath in snowy mountain hunts. They are awesome. Looking to get a replacement for this one soon, so I’m ready when this wears out. They’re hardcore for the worst weather. Good vid! I wish they were easier to get hold of in UK

I purchased one of these in the early 2000’s at the BX for about $35. At that price it’s a bargain. I have a couple of older ones from the 69’s that have been used and still hold up well for any cutting task. You can get them slicy sharp on stones or a Lansky. Good follow up review.

I couldn't agree more. One of my favorite edc fixed blade knives. I can't stand how knife companies make knives so damn thick. A knife is supposed to be thin stock, so it can slice through material and flesh, for skinning and whittling. I recently started going back to the basics, using what the pioneers and mountain men used. I love that classic and for the money it's VERY hard to beat. ( I also love the BPS Savage knife. Full flat grind is my favorite grind)

I would recommend a scandi ground bushcraft style knife that works for you. There are many so you may have to try a few before you land on one. Also, i recommend you hone your edge sharpening skills to fine tune your blade the way you like it. The Condor Trivittata knife has been working well for me. Good luck brother.

They make a kit you can buy to make your own kydex sheath, you just need a Dremel or rotary tool of some kind and a some boiling water and you can make a sheath as good as any professional bladesmith. Just google kydex sheath DIY kit. That and a ULTI clip will make for the perfect EDC setup IMHO.

I bought SChrade 1400T over half my life ago when I was doing a lot of solo backwoods backpacking and wilderness canoeing. I've chopped head off fish, batoned kindling, carved wood, and it never chipped or bent on me. It isn't the latest and greatest steel so the edge retention is only a 6 of 10, but the ease of sharpening is a 10 of 10. What has realy impressed me is the sheath is still holding up. I expected the sheath to last two or three years, even the small retention strap and snaps while worn and tarnished are still intact. At 67, I'm going back into the woods for a fall trip. So I was putting a fresh edge on it tonight. I noticed that at the base of the edge I can see where I've probably removed maybe 1/32" over the years, maybe as much as 1/16"

I have the exact same knife. The edge it came with is not usefull for cutting - abysmal! It is also rediculously thick behind the edge (tip section came with 45 degree per side bevel!). Good points - it is a sturdy knife, made from fantastic materials. I think the fit and finish of mine looks even better than the one featured in the video. Steel gets increadibly sharp and kept very good edge. Knife design is beautiful to me. Bad points - edge is unacceptable at this price, and the horn was really stinky for a very long time...

I really like those little knives. They remind me of my Mora Eldris, but they look thinner & seem to have a more practical sheath. Plus, when I’m camping, I’m generally not bush-crafting, & I prefer a flatter grind for food prep. It’s cool there’s an option for something besides a scandi grind.

The definition of full tang is a tang that runs the full length of the blade. Whether it's exposed or hidden, as long as it runs the full length of the handle it's still full tang.

Great review. I put it on my Amazon wish list. I’ll be dammed the very next day it went from $19.99 to $9.99 with 5% off. I couldn’t order it fast enough. It cost me $9.49, what a deal. I haven’t taken it out into the wild yet but overall it looks very good. It is very comfortable in the hand and the sheath seams ok. It will not fall out of the sheath with the strap buckled. It’s a little smaller than a SRK-C and I like the blade shape better. I also believe you could do a lot of modifications to the sheath quite easily. It would make a great truck knife.
