I'd really like a mode, but like most keyboard companies, they unfortunately don't support a single design that has a Mac bottom row, i.e., 4 keys bottom-left or at least a key below C. Also no split spacebar sucks because it wouldn't be hard for them to implement, but it is what it is.

great video with well presented information! very engaging to watch, even as a current mode board owner. fun to learn some of the facts and your insights on the operations of the company overall.

Honestly at this point - calling out RAMA should be put front and center rather than just a cheeky nod. - Sincerely, a RAMA Victim. Other than that - great job on the video. I've always wanted a Mode board but the lack of any wireless options makes the value proposition a little wild to me.

Nice vid and overview CT. Apple - Ha! A company living off a historical reputation that is no longer deserved. Marketing at it's best and worst :) The one thing I disagree with you is finding all the parts to work together after a long ass time of searching. I have had experiences, with other products, that have meant I am left spending even more money to replace new parts that are no longer supported; so a company that is keeping a close eye on the ability to deliver and communicates this is a huge plus point for me. After all, who wants to pay twice for a product component? Oh hang on - Apple again.

I like the idea of using this as a Surface pro and a gaming machine and a tablet. It pretty much covers all my needs. What's not to like? Hopefully it will go down to $499 on black friday or something below $600 🤷♂️

yeah it's pretty much always the cable's fault with display issues. it's a problem for both DisplayPort and HDMI at this point. The high bandwidth needs of top tier displays are not being validated for. very very annoying. I don't think I would ever do my setup like this (I clicked on the video because I do use both a mac mini and windows desktop) But I do think the studio display offers and interesting package. If apple did put in the effort to officially maintain a real (even very basic) windows compatibility that fixes the ridiculous need to power cycle them nobody would argue the capabilities of the setup. (if the bug is caused by the KVM though it's on you 😅)
@sanaltdeleteКүн бұрын
I like the jerryrigged setup, but gosh, it sounds like a huge bother. There are brilliant monitors for less than half the price of the studio display which have built in kvms, but you know that. Overall, nice video.

Correct me if I'm wrong; but wouldn't it be easier (somewhat cheaper) if you just used a Mac Studio / Mac Mini with a M1 / M2 chip and run MacOS with Parallels and then setup two (2) desktops (Windows - 1 monitor desktop / MacOS - 1 monitor desktop). Then you can just use 1 keyboard and 1 mouse and not have any need for a KVM switch and other dongles. Um, because that's what I have been doing since for the last 5 years on my two (2) Mac 27" LED monitors (yes, I did by two thunderbolt to old thunderbolt dongles). Just saying. Happy Tech-ing.

Actually, this is genius! If there were more native support for Windows for the displays, I'd absolutely take this into consideration when I ever need a new setup!

Hello! I had a question if you don't mind. its about your MacBooks pro battery life. does it the health decrease like 5 or 6% every like 9 months? I got a MacBook Pro m2 Pro 9 months ago, and it is my first MacBook, and I'm curious about how long the battery health lasts. Thank you!!

the production value of this video is amazing, but this is a seemingly roundabout way of solving a very simple problem. This video is not sharing any good tech advice. My solution to this scenario: 1) Most PC's also have thunderbolt via USB-C. Use a standard usb-c to usb-c cable instead of the jangly cable. Even if you use the jangly cable - this isn't the end of the world. You've got two computers on two screens. 2) Use a software-based KVM like Synergy by Symless. Use the one keyboard and mouse to control both computers including copying/pasting as well as drag/drop between them. 3) Use a common NAS between all the computers. done.

I only recently joined the custom board crowd having gotten a Keychron Q5 Max. I 'collect' keyboards (and mouse) just like people collect audio speakers or bikes and have always been in the mainstream crowd - Razer, Corsair, Asus, Logitech etc. A 2kg aluminium keyboard was certainly a nice surprise + the nice PBT keys and tactile banana switches (the RGB was a nice bonus since Keychron is not a game-centric brand like Razer etc). I'm new to custom boards so things like gaskets and the other components inside a custom board left me scratching my head which is why I'm watching this video. I don't think I will drop into the rabbit hole of custom boards since I hardly use the keyboard to type other than forum and KZbin posts like here, nor am I a competitive gamer that requires all the tech prowess of 'professional' boards, so I'll be sticking to the mainstream crowd.

Yea I was thinking about buying 2 of the Pro XDR displays because I wanted the 32in and the display quality but then I saw the pricing. A base Pro XDR display is $5000 but you have to get the stand too which is $1000. Then I always get AppleCare which is $500 pre monitor. Lastly I need 2 so the total is $13000. That is a down payment of a car or the cost of a car back then.😂

i reached my endgame for sure. i have two of em, low profile reviung41s with nice!nano's for bluetooth :) no rgb or leds, although there is space (and power) for em on the bottom of the pcb. one uses a metal switchplate, the other is a piece of blank pcb colored white. wish i could post pics here, i love them so much. the white one has super low profile MBK choc keycaps and the other has smol 3d printed custom DSA choc caps and the texture on them makes em feel super soft. both have tactile brown choc switches, i don't remember the exact spring weight but they're fairly low. not as light as my planck, which is my second favorite, but they're super nice for portable typing on a tablet or with my laptop or whatever. i looove the metal one, the white one feels a little fragile with the pcb switchplate. credits to cyril279 on github for designing the pcb and switchplate c: now i just gotta figure out a simple mouse control, hopefully trackball or trackpad. if i could fit one of those tiny blackberry-esque trackballs into the center, along with a scrollwheel, that'd be so perfect!

I built a complete custom one from scratch. Designed the pcb, machined the housing, programmed the microcontroller. All because i wanted maximum flexibility... long story short, after about a year I got bored of my precious keyboard. You customize these things once and then leave it... I now ended up just using cheap mechanical keyboards from china. Because I need a change once in a year and want a new one :D
