Just in case you decide to get this, feel free to use the affiliate links: MIKIT Store: www.mikit.store/cheese MIKIT MK72: www.mikit.store/products/mikit-m65-evergreen You can also use the code “cheese” to get 5% off your purchase, which does help the channel, but you don't have to! 🙂

Wow, instead of getting a long 15-20 minute video you came through with the 12 min and 9 sec version. Thanks for the 3 minutes savings 😆. Also, awesome video!

😅 When I began recording this I thought "this is gonna be a short one, 10min top." but after getting through all my points I realized this wasn't so short after all 🙈 Glad it was still watchable though and thank you so much! 🙂

weird format to be honest, a significant amount of the advantage in a 65% is the reduced use of desk space and the amount of dead space where the knob is certainly a choice. If they made use of it with additional macro keys or maybe had it swapped to the other side then I would see more appeal

The industrial design of the right side feels like it was designed to hold something else - that was later cost cut. Love the format, and your content in general. Keep the videos coming!

appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the board! I’d say for a shorter format, I’d be more interested in your thoughts on the design language and how it feels to use the board with less time spent on the details of the keyboard’s functionality (e.g. the various key remapping options) assuming that info can be gleaned from the product page. I’ve always found your commentary on design in your other videos to be stand out content, and especially engaging, though presumably that’s at least partially a product of your great scripting. To me, it’s really hard to recommend anyone purchase an entry level keyboard that doesn’t have qmk/via support (especially on something smaller than a TKL), but I suppose at least mikit is doing something different design-wise.

I like the design for sure, though as you and other people have stated; it doesn't fit too well with the 65 category. I think the size looks and possibly feels similar to a TKL board, and has the potential to REALLY stand out in the crowd with maybe a 75 percent format along with some sort of an additional function below the volume knob. Absolutely love the color scheme though, I'm a sucker for softer, mellow-looking colors. Also I like the idea of the shorter videos! I think Alex_116 said it best, but for the shorter videos it may be more intriguing to spend more time on the overall design cues of the board and your thoughts on it in general. Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much for the comment and the feedback 🙂 I will focus more on those points in the next one of "these" 🙂 And great point about the TKL form factor, haven't thought about it that way 🤔

The color green on their site doesn’t look like your video’s green. Which one is correct?

Yeah that was interesting. Looks better in this video in my opinion, at least it’s more of an “evergreen” than the brighter green in the site

I like it a lot, but adding all that extra footprint on the right just for a knob seems a bit much to me.

Video format: I would cut off the how-to-switch-things part. That could make the video even shorter. (We can always RTFM 😁) Hand gestures: Actually, there could be more of them. (Emoji library FTW 🤘)

Colour scheme reminds me of classic steam would look cool as a steam deck board if it didn't have all that dead knob space since portability. Intresting company though and worth keeping an eye on em for sure.

The green of the keyboard on this video seems much more muted and neutral than the MIKIT website listing. Did you add any effects to the video or is that how it is in reality out of the box? Thanks!
@CheeseTurbulence
@CheeseTurbulence Жыл бұрын
The video definitely has some color tweaking or "grading", I'd say that the website is more accurate (even if that isn't 100% either). Sorry about the confusion here, gonna try to reduce the "stylization" in the next one and keep it more "true".

Thanks again for the great work on video. I love this green color and texture, which reminds me matcha tea 😊. Blank space under the knob looks a bit off, it's understandable that the battery needs some space, but maybe some functional keys would be more... functional. The new format is ok, if it helps you be more productive then I will be glad to see new videos more often. 👍

love the spacebar. makes flipping the spacebar unnecessary is the keyboard not as tall compared to other boards? i imagine putting the battery to the side makes it shorter also. you underestimate how (an excessive amount of) hand gestures actually make the faceless videos look "normal" haha cinematic shots are cool, but it can only go so far with it imo
@CheeseTurbulence
@CheeseTurbulence Жыл бұрын
It's surprisingly "normal" sized, the front chin is pretty average at around 18mm. But it is 18mm all around, incl. the back, whereas other boards like the NuPhy Halo series, you have a thicker back that houses the battery. So it's not as advantageous as it might appear at first 😬 Also thanks for the input on the hand gestures, makes me question it less next time around 😅

@@jammies701 I haven’t really shopped much for DMK but virtually every DMK set I’ve seen have the smooth edge. I know that their WoB has it. I think all the cherry profile DMK.

Personally that keyboard is not for me; no function row, no deal. Also not a fan of the color or lack of customization. That said, I quite like the molding of the case even though the right side is a lot of wasted space. But: I like the new format. 👍🏼

eh. looks cool, but that's not enough for me. at least the price is reasonable. I have bought boards that i never use because of half baked gimmicks. im tired of rushed overly expensive with poor quality control keyboards.
