I appreciate you having no sound here. I frequently mute modeling videos with music so I can focus on the build without the distraction. Relevant commentary is okay.

💯 I figured out that if the video is interesting enough (which I try to do), there is no need for an audio track. Thanks for the comment!

Beautiful build of this kit! May I ask where you got the peelabe decals for the serial number? I know Eduard do some stencils, but I haven't seen anything else from them...
@DavidAndrs80
@DavidAndrs80 5 ай бұрын
They are home made. You take Sunnyscopa Type A film-free waterslide decal paper. You make your design and print it on a laser printer vertically flipped. Then, use Mr. mark setter (the blue one) to apply. Let dry for several hours, then peel. This is not my invention. I found somebody on YT that described this method and they claimed you have to use these exact products. I did not check if other products work as well, but those ones worked for me... Also, this is roughly the idea of how HGW wet transfers work, but their technology is much more advanced...

@DavidAndrs80

Hi Mike! I don't make or sell them. I just made one-time masks for this one project and cut them on my vinyl cutter. They are just traced from the Hasegawa instruction sheet...

Sadly, my cockpit pieces shattered when being removed from the sprue like the plastic was really brittle. It made building up the cockpit virtually impossible. I ended building the main kit ,minus the interior. The inside of the canopy was painted with Tamiya smoke to hide the empty void and it was painted in night fighter colours. The undercarriage was in the raised position.

I noticed you didn't prime the parts before spraying. What paints are you using?
@DavidAndrs80
@DavidAndrs80 7 ай бұрын
The interior was not primed before painting, you are right about that. But, the model was primed with Tamiya's grey surfacer. It is just that spraying gray primer over gray plastic is not really visible on the video, so I typically skip that step, because IMO it does not bring anything to the table... And to answer your question about the paint: it is just Tamiya.

The "needle stitch holes" on the surfaces of the wing, depicting rivets, are certainly not correct. The wings of the Mustang had a laminar flow profile which generated only low drag, thus increasing speed considerably. The wing surfaces were carefully sealed and sanded to get a smooth surface. So the rivets of the model are totally wrong! Just gluing together parts and taking a lot of effort to weather the model does not necessarily create an outstanding model...

This is probably Fly 1:32 kit? Great in details, but mold quality is very bad. Flash everywhere, big or small intricate parts. Fit is also not up to the Tamiya’s standards. I keep hearing its a short run, but they have been making them for several years now, and still can’t get things right….

Hopefully you produce more videos, made sure to sub just in case 👍🔔. Cheers from Florida ☕🐢

Amazing dexterity with the PE! You may it look easy, and I know it's not! At least not for me. Were you using PVA glue with the PE parts? Thanks for sharing!
@DavidAndrs80
@DavidAndrs80 7 ай бұрын
The white stuff is PVA (Micro Kristal Klear) best for glueing already painted parts. The clear stuff is loctite gel (almost instant bond) - good for those little handles and what not. And the black stuff is a black CA 2 from Mig - good when you want the glue to flow into gaps.

Thanks! I do like this model very much, so glad to hear you liked it. I use this (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005VIG6TA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) with the 3.5x magnification. Makes it much simpler to do such a small work. They go for about 20 bucks... Also, welcome back to the hobby!

Nice job, David. Everyone bellyaches about the brown tint. I had read somewhere that ground crews would wax their planes for speed. Unfortunately the tint was from the brown shoe polish used to buff them up....hence the brown staining. P-47's got it too. Hey, polish is polish...ya use what ya got. Thanks, Dane

Thanks for the video....I experimented with tin foil for the lights on some of my model 1/32 scale with quite good results...Tin foil is a lot more reflective than any of the metallic paints and looks more realistic sometimes...
@DavidAndrs80
@DavidAndrs80 Жыл бұрын
I usually use liquid chrome (from Molotow). When applied in larger amounts on a smooth area, it gives quite nice effect, but not mirror like. I also have the mirror foil from Hasegawa, but did not use it yet. I hope it will produce better results than just a tin foil 🤞
