It's a bit unfair comparing a 2017 game vs a 2022 game. A better comparison would have been between ER and TOTK. I still think ER would win though.
@nickcampbell63873 күн бұрын
I didn't know BOTW's map was actually bigger, I think the uninhibited traversal in BOTW makes the map feel smaller. Elden rings character limitations makes the landscape feel more insurmountable and grand. BOTW isn't nearly as guilty as TOTK though, absolutely zero limitations in traversal, making exploring the map more of a chore.

Nice to see someone give Skyward Sword some much due love! Here's my ranking: 07. Breath Of The Wild: I agree with you completely. While I do think the puzzles themselves are good, the Divine Beasts are just repetitive and don't have strong enough identities. That's on top of how few there even are. 06. Tears Of The Kingdom I could honestly just about interchange these first two entries. Tears gets a leg up solely based on the fact that they at least tried to craft "actual" Zelda type dungeons. In terms of execution however, they leave much to be desired. The Water Temple in particular is almost certainly going to go down in history as one of the most maligned dungeons in the series. 05. Majora's Mask: Majora already takes a hit based on just how few of them exist, with only four proper, full length dungeons. In terms of quality, they're good. Yes, Stone Tower Temple is amazing, but the rest aren't quite of the same caliber. And while the Stray Fairies add an extra layer of exploration to them, it kinda cancels itsef out as it also adds an extra layer of frustration since you're on a time limit. Without those time constraints, I think their addition would absolutely bump up the dungeon quality overall, but as it stands, they're just extra. 04. Wind Waker: It's a close call between Wind Waker and Skyward Sword. Both have seven dungeons, which is a big step up in terms of quantity. So why do I place Wind Waker lower? Well, it's mostly down to how it's dungeons are mostly consistently really good, but don't necessarily have any that are top five in the series. Don't get me wrong, I like all of em', except for Ganon's Tower which is essentially a boss rush. Oh yeah, I'm not factoring bosses into this ranking. I also find the Wind Temple to be meh. There's a lot of reasons to love Wind Waker beyond just it's dungeons, and as a complete package I would rank it the slightly better game over Skyward Sword. But this is about the dungeons and so I maintain it's placement. 03. Skyward Sword: Like with Wind Waker, Skyward Sword has mostly all good dungeons, but it also has a couple of absolute standouts that are among the very best in the series. Namely, Ancient Cistern and Sandship. I also think as an actual dungeon experience, The Sky Keep is much better than Ganon's Tower. 02. Ocarina Of Time: So like with the previous two entries, Ocarina and Twilight Princess both have nine full length dungeons. And both have a great variety of them. Featuring a plethora of different themed and environments and puzzles. They both also featural several that are top ten tier out of the entire series. Highlights from Ocarina for me include Forest Temple, Fire Temple and Shadow Temple. So why does Twilight take the top spot? Read on to find out... 01. Twilight Princess: When Palace Of Twilight is the weakest dungeon in your roster, you know you've got a fantastic line up! Again, Twilight Princess features some of the very best of the best, top ten Zelda dungeons of all time. Including Lakebed Temple, Arbiters Grounds, and City In The Sky! So it really just comes down to comparing the quality of each dungeon, Ocarina against Twilight... 01. The Deku Tree vs Forest Temple Winner: Forest Temple (Twilight) 02. Dodongos Cavern vs Goron Mines Winner: Goron Mines (Twilight) 03. Jabu Jabu's Belly vs Lakebed Temple Winner: Lakebed Temple (Twilight) 04. Forest Temple vs Arbiters Grounds Winner: TIE 05. Fire Temple vs Snowpeak Ruins Winner: TIE 06. Water Temple vs Temple Of Time Winner: Water Temple (Ocarina) 07. Shadow Temple vs City In The Sky Winner: TIE 08. Spirit Temple vs Palace Of Twilight Winner: Spirit Temple (Ocarina) 09. Inside Ganon's Castle vs Hyrule Castle Winner: Hyrule Castle (Twilight) So there ya have it. 4 to 2. Twilight Princess edges out Ocarina Of Time and stands tall as my personal pick for Zelda game with the best dungeon quality overall!

ER doesn't have memorable music? Really? The effin' Caelid theme which sounds like flies are buzzing all over you? The majestic Leyndell theme? The Ancestor Spirit boss theme? O come on! I can remember way more ER tracks than BotW ones.

Breath of the wild didn’t deserve innovation what you stated was how different they are from their previous games but if you don’t think about the other games Elden ring is way too innovative with its build creation. I played both games and don’t get me wrong both are amazing

I think the fact that wind Waker holds up so incredibly well for a game that came out in 2002 is what puts it in S tier for me, it’s got that BOTW exploration element that I love as well except with better dungeons and bosses

Forest and Water temples in oot were the best. Most difficult thing about them was navigating them, which I think makes an interesting dungeon. Shadow temple wasn’t hard to solve, it’s very linear. The atmosphere making it scary was what slowed 8 year old me down.

I’d love if the next Zelda has better dungeons and combat difficulty somewhere between TotK and Elden Ring, with a larger bestiary, but otherwise follows the BotW/TotK format.

Link to the Past holds up like the finest of wines. Its one of the rare games that I feel like I could play it every day and never get tired of it. The other two...weeeeeeell. Zelda 1 is still great, but is so against modern sensibilities that I can see people getting put off by it. Keep in mind that it is one of the few games (maybe even the only game I can think of) that was meant to be used in tandem with the manual that came with the game. That gets lost today as almost nobody saved their manuals, and obviously the manuals aren't on the digital versions of the game. I maintain that Zelda II could have been a great timeless game if they had just scaled back the difficulty. I actually want to see a game done in that style again, but with the rough edges sanded off.

Wow, OOT first, no way, and yes, that is your opinion, and I respect that, OOT was a great game for the time, but to be above BOTW, Skyward Sword or TOTK ouch. No way. However, my compliment to a well-done video, even if I don't agree with the order of the game sequence you chose.

elden ring has better story better bosses better combat and slightly better soundtrack (thats a toss up tbh) Botw had a real fealing open world and was a ahead of its time. elden ring realy changed gaming more then botw did imo tho but they are 2 entirely seperate games that cant relay be compared

Hud, I agree. My favorite zelda game is Skyward Sword and number two Ocarina of Time. Awesome picks!!! I don't get why people think Skyward Sword is bad, it's has epic music, the origin of Link, Zelda, the villains, and Master Sword, and on HD version you can use button controls. So It's my all-time favorite video game. Super amazing video!!! 👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😁😁😁👏👏👏👏

As far as i heard, open world gaming was a lot about following quest arrows and cheking icons on a map before breath of the wild. Zelda made it about seeing a place afar and going there, and thats why people say botw influenced elden ring.
@PatricksCrazyPlace27 күн бұрын
I don't have many Zelda hot takes, but I guess one of mine would be that I am actually in favor of a new game being done in the style of Zelda II being released. There are flaws to Zelda II, but with a little tweaking, it could be an amazing game and I'd like to see a modern stab at it.
