Awesome video motor man loved it you represented the department and what you guys do from day to day very well. Outstanding maneuvering through cone patterns outstanding especially since you were narrating the whole time, excellent job. Thank you for your service I’m glad the higher ups allowed you to take us on your training, videos like this allows the public to see where their tax money is going and they’ll have more pride in knowing that they are a part of protecting and serving. Ride safe ride on 🤙🏽

Thanks for showing this. I recently picked up that same bike but from the 2007-2009 generation. It still has the crash bars and the custom color of one of the police outfits. 1st and 6th gear are shorter than stock, the final drive is shorter than stock, and the engine management has a bunch of tweaks. I've found that it runs very badly without that second battery :( Fun bike however.

With the low profile tires it would definitely look better lowered..But looked cool with the rake from the bigger back tires...Depending on the rear end gear it has that might be desirable too.. lf not 235/75/15s would be better for stock height..
@Mclovingarage29 күн бұрын
Ya these tires are definitely not the answer long term but glad to have some good rubber for moving it around the McCompound.

It’s a sweet addition/project! I wouldn’t mind getting something like that to work on. We have a 2012 Silverado 1500 with the 6.2 that is total overkill for pulling our pop-up camper. I’ve been loosely contemplating getting something like that. Happy turkey day Ryan!
@Mclovingarage29 күн бұрын
Thank you! I’m stoked about it! It’s going to be a fun one when I get back to it. The 6.2 liter in the half tons is an awesome power train! Plenty of horsepower! Happy Thanksgiving!

@ yeah plus that particular engine doesn’t have any of the d.o.d. nonsense. No need to worry about failing lifters for me. It gets 12 mpg, but 🤷♂️
@Mclovingarage29 күн бұрын
@ I’d much rather have worse economy and none of that added complexity. That’s the engine to have! It would fit nicely in my 86 Suburban too… just sayin!

A run-in stand is essential if you're going to build many engines. Good move splitting the cost with a friend.

Thank you! I agree. It’s so nice to be able to have full access to a new engine before it ever gets installed in a car/truck. Hear it run, make sure it’s healthy and let it break in. I think it’s a good investment. Thanks for checking out the video!

When practicing slow speeds, did you have to do anything differently with regards to the dry clutch vs wet clutch models?
@XxxXxx-fm3woАй бұрын
My parents 1986 Chevy Caprice classic station wagon was missing all the luxuries, except it had all the extras like positraction differential, brake boosting extra lock, and daytime running lights . That and my father soon changed out the cargo springs to softer ones; and put on the spoke hubcaps. AKA the poor man's limo. I loved to sit in the back on road trips. It was the 305, 5 speed with Overdrive, no AC, AM mono radio, with roof rack, and the front bench seat. Two tone silver and metallic dark blue. They bought it used in 1990, my parents didn't think they would want a station wagon but I pointed out all the practicalities, and it became an extremely useful vehicle for our family especially when we ran small vending business.

Looks great! It’s always fun to change things up for a while and then switch back to the rallies or on to something else. It keeps the look fresh and things like this tend to keep me interested and motivated in my projects!
@MclovingarageАй бұрын
I 100% agree with you! Wheels are such an easy thing to change and they can wildly change the look of a car/truck. I’m keeping the rally’s, they need to be freshened up anyway, and eventually they will probably go back on the car. It’s nice to have options. Thanks for checking it out.

@MclovingarageАй бұрын
Thanks! It’s a diamond in the rough right now but I think it’ll come around. If it was 4x4 I’d definitely think about lifting it. But being two wheel drive I think it’s going to get lowered a bit.

Nice rig 👍. Bought one very similar myself a few months ago. Had to do some work but it’s been a good daily driver so far. I’m about to swap the rear end though. It’s got the overdrive transmission and a 2.73 rear end. I’m looking at going with a 3.42 and adding a receiver hitch.

@theodoresupanarongprompich158Ай бұрын
@@Mclovingarage Thanks for your response! I agree with your sentiment, all the square burbs are great. My only gripe with the 89-91 model year is the lack of aftermarket support for brighter headlights. Getting old and my night-vision isn't what it used to be.
@MclovingarageАй бұрын
@theodoresupanarongprompich158 I hear ya. The old halogens just aren’t up to the task sometimes. But the 89-91 are kinda the best culmination of these rigs. Fuel injection, overdrive transmissions and nicely appointed. Hope you get it back soon!

I am still a bigger fan for the rally wheels with dog dish caps. I grew up watching Cragar SS rims shed chrome like a drunk co-ed's skin on spring break. The Cragar's have that 1980's vibe where the steelies with caps have an old school rodder vibe for me...I still call the Cragar's a 9 out of ten. Powder coated Steelies and dog dishes would be an 11 out of ten for me,,, to quote a famous 1970's movie.
