thank you so much for this, one question ( probably someone already asked but cannot go through all 200 comments) how about drying? that’s the thing I struggle with oil bars 🥹
@selinawilsonartКүн бұрын
You’re welcome. I have found some colours take longer than others to dry. Of course how thick you apply the stick will also play a factor. All considered mine are dry within a day or two. 😊🌷

Hi, I made a gelli plate and after one use it kinda melted. So I melted it, strained it added more gelatine and then actually got about 6 prints out of it. When I started using it, it was still cool from the fridge. Then it broke down again. Layers of it were coming off with the paper......it's about 82 degrees in my art room, warm but I didn't think hot. If there's help out there, I'd sure like to save it. Thanks so much!
@selinawilsonart19 күн бұрын
Hmmmm. So many questions to try and figure this one out. Did you use my recipe? What type of paint are you using? Are you using any alcohol or mineral based products?
@allanandlisafraser879819 күн бұрын
@@selinawilsonart I used water, glycerin and gelatine. 300mls of water and glycerin and 80 grams or more of gelatine. Using acrylic paint , Michaels brand, and used hand sanitizer for cleaning up. Thanks for responding.
@selinawilsonart19 күн бұрын
@allanandlisafraser8798 ah ok. Thanks for the info. The hand sanitizer will be the most likely cause to your issues. I only use water and fragrance free bamboo baby wipes to clean my plate. The hand sanitizer is far too strong and potent to use on a handmade plate. You might have to start over with a new batch/plate. Good luck 😊💖

@@selinawilsonart so what do I clean it with? I thought that’s what I was supposed to use. 🤦♀️
@allanandlisafraser879819 күн бұрын
I really appreciate your taking the time to explain this to me. Sorry I didn’t see your full answer. I was thinking of melting it down, adding 100ml of glycerin and additional gelatine. Do you think that is a good idea? Is the heat an issue? Thanks again. 😊

I just made one but a little different recipe but only one side is hard and the other has little fissures in it when I move it because it's not cured all the way. it has been 36 hours and I have no idea what I did wrong!
@selinawilsonart29 күн бұрын
Hmmmm. My guess would be not mixed enough/properly. Id say nothing is going to change after 36hours unfortunately. My suggestion is to cut away the “set” part and use it if big enough for you or cut the whole thing up, remelt (I have a vlog on that too) and try mixing and setting it again.

A Pixelated pastel patchwork! I love it! About half way through I was thinking of an abstracted landscape, like if you had cut up your original piece and placed it randomly on the canvas and it seemed you may have had the same idea because it looked like you were exploring a fractured horizon line and broken clouds? Very interesting and beautiful result and I’m excited to see where you go with this❤

These turned out so lovely. I really loved the one on linen. Making papers is so addictive and it’s really fun playing around with how to use them. I’ve been lightly sanding the bubbles and wrinkles out once my papers are dry. It does remove a little of the colour of the paper but it creates some nice pale lines and spots, which gives me the aged door look I’m going for.

Hi Selina, fellow Australian here. Excellent tutorial and good to see it made in real time. Thank you. I made a gel plate about 5 years ago and used it for quite some time. Unfortunately I live in the sub-tropics and our summer heat and humidity start to melt it and it goes a bit gooey. I should dig the paint out of the dents and re-melt it. Then keep it in the fridge in the summer I guess. I admit though that I do not keep it sandwiched with acetate sheets. Would that make a difference? Thanks for sharing this process with us. ❤
@selinawilsonartАй бұрын
Hi 🇦🇺😀 Thanks so much. No I don’t think the sheets would make a difference. They really only stop other things sticking to it. The fridge would be the best option I think. 💖🌸
