Hey, Javier! I like this episode and have a feedback. For Armageddon and the Very last boss, I used a mushroom to heal myself whenever I take damage. But, it didn't work! I hope, you'll be able to patch this.

Armageddon looks like Majora’s Moon from Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. And Miracle Mass looks like Dark Matter from the Nintendo 3DS game Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.

@@Javier_Jafuenf I did the things you said but it doesn't show up in the games when I start the launcher. I extracted the "Miracle2" folder and put it inside the worlds of the launcher. I tried to manually open the levels and it works. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can launch it from the intro and play but I'll only be able to play without saving. :(

That was the inspiration! There are some other bosses that were influenced by Kirby too, like Miracle Guy is similar to Void Soul or White Mass is like Fecto Forgo.

Is there a good tutorial on how to play SMBX/SMBX 2 games? I used to play quite a few of the originals but I haven't touched it in years so I don't really remember much. I suspect that's going to stop a lot of folks from playing this.

You don't have the biggest margin for error in this fight, do you?...Also, what would happen if it crashed? Would it be just an iris-out/fade to white with an explosion, do you just die normally, or is there an actual cutscene?

There's some margin for error I'd say, since you can take a few hits and you start doing much more damage when it is close to crashing. Kinda both, when it crashes, it plays a cutscene similar to 9:06-9:25, except the background is replaced by an empty space background and the music is more ominous. And then you die.

In my first attempt of the boss I indeed ran out of time (in harsh mode). Its not a lot margin there but you can probably finish it right at the attack loops back to the beginning.

@@catowong1387 Yeah, it's different in normal and harsh mode. In normal mode, you do 6x as much damage when it is close to crashing, while in harsh mode you only do 2x as much damage. It also stays centered in normal mode, so you don't miss as many shots. So basically, the time limit is only dangerous in harsh mode.

Hope you enjoy the video. I feel like talking about it so here are what I would consider the top 5 hardest bosses to do damageless. 5 - Toadwig B. Thoven. Most of the fight is really not too difficult if you use the reflector and time your jumps right. The hardest part is right at the end when he starts pulling out multiple instruments. Here in the video, I beat him fast enough so I didn't have to bother with it, but if you're slower, well, good luck. Harsh mode adds more projectiles and also makes the cymbal a homing attack. 4 - Lady Manic. Surpisingly, it took me a while. Harsh mode makes the boss a lot harder mostly since the projectiles are faster, the cuckoo clock homes in on you faster and she doesn't drop mushrooms. Finding the reflector shield is 100% recommended for doing damageless. Just reflect all her stuff, wait for a good moment, then jump on her (with Luigi if she's high up). You can beat her fairly quickly, at least. 3 - Miracle Guy. Not only is it a pretty long fight, but harsh mode adds additional projectiles to some attacks which are very hard to dodge alongside all the other stuff. It is really mostly the swinging back and forth attack that can get you easily. I'd also recommend getting to the halfway point before he charges the laser attack, which you can only dodge my circling him really fast or spot dodging. 2 - Perfect Mario (Phase 1). Unlike the other bosses, his moves are random, so you may get hit by something unexpected. In harsh mode, he moves faster and jumps farther, so you can't really get away from him. The most difficult move to dodge is the long jump. Even though there are a few ways to dodge it (reflector, high jump, long jump), you have to think fast. Flying phase isn't as difficult if you keep calm and pay attention. Last phase also has some hard attacks, but is generally doable in my opinion. 1 - Armageddon. Not as hard normally since you have a lot of health, but damageless is hell. In harsh mode, additionally to all the projectiles being faster and some patterns being harder, you also have to hurry up before the meteor crashes and kills you. Make good use of the dash and hammers to bypass the projectiles and watch out for the homing laser, which can only be dodged by dashing at the right moment.

The pain of making this video is that I had to basically replay the whole game multiple times just to get the star counter right for certain bosses. That means I couldn't use my max save file unless I edit the save.dat file, the achievement file and even the Lua code to unskip the dialogues. Getting things right is a long process, even while using cheats to get the stars. Aside from the accuracy, I also refrained from using Luigi or the projectile reflector. Dodging the 2nd laser attack and the 3rd spinning building in the final boss was difficult to understand. You basically show to bait the laser to go offscreen so it doesn't just fly through to you to the opposite of the screen. Thankfully, I defeated the boss just as the 3rd building spawned. I guess you also gave a name to the secret final boss where it isn't "Very Last Boss".

@@catowong1387 Well uh sorry that happened. I wasn't enough of a perfectionist to care about things like the star counter, which is probably for the best lol. Some bosses in harsh are designed around Luigi/reflector so I imagine the later bosses are insane. After replaying it I also thought that some attacks are a bit too hard too dodge (specifically regarding the final bosses), might patch it sometime when I feel like doing something, along with adding more shortcuts through the dungeons

I would like you to split the level and the boss portion into two videos. The dungeon is pretty cool redoing the later part of the dungeon in World 3. There are a couple of strategies to do the puzzles, intended or not. Weirdly, I had a dream where Carl Sagan was playing at 3:22 with another streamer, so it became just a co-op without needing to swap to Luigi. Perfect Mario looks like it has good and natural AI. Coincidentally, I was doing a project on machine learning in games, so for a second I was under the impression that Oracle guys trained the boss based on my gameplay. Either way, the problem is with the Spin Dash attack. It felt unavoidable to get hit unless you got lucky with the fireballs' placement, or you knew the attack was going to be used beforehand. And you couldn't have a better name for the final boss?

@@catowong1387 Well, it's nice if it feels like machine learning, but really all he does is follow your x coordinate and occassionally do a random move lol. I admit the long jump move can be really hard to avoid on harsh (since he goes much farther) If you can't stay in front of him, your best bet is to use the reflector to make the fireballs "friendly"

If I had a nickel for every SMBX Episode that has an 2.5D shooter as a final boss, I'd have two nickels (Subzero Heroes). Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it hasn't been tried more. Anyways, I feel like a lot was happening in the Miracle Guy's fight (least in harsh mode). Can't really see Mario clearly in the 3rd attack when the boss is in the foreground. Armageddon (no hit, harsh) is the longest I have attempted.

The final bosses on harsh are indeed pretty hard, I fail to do them damageless quite often. Although I also wasn't expecting people to go for damageless harsh lol

Thoven is deceptively easy when you abuse your spin dash right in front of him, not having to worry about spawned projectiles right above his head. Well, it is also funny when Mario dies in certain spots, causing it to spin infinitely or Thoven to spam his keyboard.

True, he's a bit more difficult if you didn't get the Yoshi Egg moves though. And yeah, since the attacks are timed to the beat, attacks like the cymbal become a bit confused when you die or pause the game. Let's just say it's an easter egg.....

It's kept a bit ambiguous in the game, but I can share my original scenario. The main idea is that the masses are former researchers who used the Miracle Star to wish for things their body couldn't handle, causing them to corrupt. Mr Manic is the brother of two of those researchers who turned into black and white mass, and saw the incident happen. While white mass was captured by the other researchers, Mr Manic helped black mass escape and kept it alive in his attic. There is not much humanity left in it, though. First part is implied on the lab signs, second part is more up to interpretation in the final game. I originally had it more explicitly told to the player, but it was all a bit too much text.

Its a cool concept, but drags on quite a bit since you would have to restart if you get hit. I would hope for a better way to skip straight to the boss (after beating it of course) aside replaying the whole level (since the shortcuts don't work after leaving the level).

Another dumb one of me trying to smuggle a water block to the star before the Bros section. Well, at least you can skip that part by regrabbing the block through the semi-solid. By the way, the boss isn't as hard as the Oracle guy thinks. With the way the boss works, Mario midair dashing (without stomping) can still damage her with the iFrames.

@@Javier_Jafuenf I think I can see why. The boss really test your patience in not to attack in a certain way, such as getting knocked to the fireball below, or getting hit by the spawning fireball during the bell attack. You can see me dying at the end cutscene of the fight in part 6.

Honestly, I would've placed the Oracle guy earlier for the hints. I got stuck long enough so I went to the forum and found that map image. It then dawned on me that you can teleport to the cloud that has been blown by the wind. That also makes the "apparent" 2nd Star more confusing the first time you see it.

Thought I was being cheesy in the mushroom block bonus room by performing a midair mushroom block jump, then the cloud would reset after landing on the block. Anyways, you can spin dash past the Toadwin cutscene to behind him, and then see him just phrase through the floor as he is leaving.

I felt dumb after watching the intended way to do the mirrored bonus room. I thought it was time consuming to activate the platform and then go all the way around just because I couldn't bring the cloud to the opposite side to avoid the Grrrol. Well, at least I still managed to glitch through the other side with the moving platforms.
