If I had a nickel for every SMBX Episode that has an 2.5D shooter as a final boss, I'd have two nickels (Subzero Heroes). Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it hasn't been tried more. Anyways, I feel like a lot was happening in the Miracle Guy's fight (least in harsh mode). Can't really see Mario clearly in the 3rd attack when the boss is in the foreground. Armageddon (no hit, harsh) is the longest I have attempted.

@@catowong1387Admittedly, if I hadn't been inspired by Subzero Heroes, the boss would've probably just been a normal 2d shooter like Funky Boo. The final bosses on harsh are indeed pretty hard, I fail to do them damageless quite often. Although I also wasn't expecting people to go for damageless harsh lol

You don't have the biggest margin for error in this fight, do you?...Also, what would happen if it crashed? Would it be just an iris-out/fade to white with an explosion, do you just die normally, or is there an actual cutscene?

There's some margin for error I'd say, since you can take a few hits and you start doing much more damage when it is close to crashing. Kinda both, when it crashes, it plays a cutscene similar to 9:06-9:25, except the background is replaced by an empty space background and the music is more ominous. And then you die.

In my first attempt of the boss I indeed ran out of time (in harsh mode). Its not a lot margin there but you can probably finish it right at the attack loops back to the beginning.

@@catowong1387 Yeah, it's different in normal and harsh mode. In normal mode, you do 6x as much damage when it is close to crashing, while in harsh mode you only do 2x as much damage. It also stays centered in normal mode, so you don't miss as many shots. So basically, the time limit is only dangerous in harsh mode.
