Jesus loves you but do you love Him? Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins. He says if you love Him you will keep His commandments

Or maybe all the work you put in early got you better over time

Sure, doing something will get better results than doing nothing. But I could have had significantly better/quicker results if my approach and understanding would have been different. You can dig a hole with your hands, but it’s much easier and faster with a shovel.

I was a D1 point guard at Stanford and one of the best ball handlers to come out of nyc (very few drills). Once you understand the concepts and then get a feel for the ball you should be able to dribble. Sounds like as a kid you never learned or truly understood the concept of ball-handling.
@VisionDrivenBasketballКүн бұрын
Definitely, didn’t understand the it until after I stopped playing and I really dove into it. Have spent a lot of time around high level coaches and players the past few years, it wasn’t until then that I realized what’s truly behind becoming a great ball handler. I didn’t have coaches growing up who got it and could help me, so I had to figure it out. Definitely ain’t NYC where I’m from haha

Disagree, reps build consistency in certain areas, especially for young kids. Not to say you can’t add unpredictability, but it’s just as good to get a good basis
@VisionDrivenBasketball2 күн бұрын
Of course, but in this clip I’m talking to a college player who’s done the reps so the priority has to shift to building adaptability and the ability to shoot through imperfection

Pound dribbles and static ball handling is essential for young players just to build strength. But after you get strong enough it becomes less valuable.

I’d agree with that

This is my huge problem right now. I'm playing in a community league which is so many people are watching. I turn the ball over and over again because I'm so nervous and the players feels like they're moving 2x compared to our normal games. It play like I don't know how to play basketabll in my life! 😭

I would’ve faked the pass to sims and give it to randle personally that way defense collapses on sims everybody is focused on him heads turned and committed and Luke Anderson would have been closer to the rim focused on sims which means randle would be wide open without chance for contest

So for instance instead of these people who say shoot 600 shots a day in shooting workouts shoot for a certain amount out of a certain amount like 7 for 10 for you to move to the next spot or drill

I’m an old man now at 46 :) but was lucky enough to hold my high schools all time leading scorer title from 1996 to around 2011 I believe. Your last point change of speed is of course massively important especially in todays game. But a little tip I try to remember to give because it really allowed me to score a lot being a 6 “3” 3 man with subpar shooting and dribbling skills is to use the change of speed just as much without the ball. You will be shocked how many times you will be open if you go from a normal speed in motion to a flash cut so fast you feel like your starting off the blocks running the 100. It will give defenders fits when done randomly and combined with knowing where to move without the ball and anticipation it will add 3 to 5 baskets a game. I had no business holding that record. I was just a really good athlete but this works I promise.
