Hello sir, I have a question, to remove the manual transmission of a Toyota Tercel 4wd, do I also have to remove the engine? I want to change the transmission on my Tercel 4wd and the mechanic tells me that he has to remove the engine in order to remove the transmission. I want to know if this is correct?

Also, those 2 jets on the side are your primary and secondary idle jets. Weber carbs run mainly on the idle jets, reduce those for better mpg, leave your main jets larger for power.

You gotta retire the ignition after leaning it out.

Hello, greetings, could you help me? I would like to know if I can put a manual transmission from a different year in my 1984 Toyota tercel 4wd.... will it be possible to replace the manual transmission with a 1983 or 1985 4wd? Or would it only have to be a 1984 4wd manual transmission? In short, will it be compatible to replace a 4wd manual transmission from 1983, 1985 to a 1984 4wd?

I have a 1985 wagon and is it front wheel Drive when in 2 wheel drive

why do you have to drain the radiator? Can this be accomplished without doing that? thanks.

Robert, Been driving several of these Tercels since 1985. My transmission lost front wheel drive, Can drive OK in 4 wheel drive but only rear wheels go. I can't see any problem with the differential up front. Any hints what I should look for. It's open and out. I swapped in another used one that seems to have no 5th in either 4 or 2WD. - like putting it in neutral. If the problem were the pin on the passenger side wouldn't reverse be affected as well? Are you anywhere near Vermont? Mike

I am trying to get my 83 to pass smog. Found out my carb solenoids were installed backwards. Now looking at the EGR seems like the vacuum modulator is installed backwards. Looking like port Q should be at the forward position. Had rough running so went to check out the EGR.

My 83 needs the 1 wire solenoid on the primary side and the 2 wire solenoid on the secondary. If they are reversed my throttle will have a dead-response spot as I try to accelerate.

Hi! I looked into my tercel differential and the nut was set at 100Nm. I replaced the seal and set it back to 100Nm again. Should i tighten it more to factory spec?

This video really helped me Robert! I am restoring a SR corolla II/Tercel and all those sunroof parts they threw in the glovebox, now I can see where they all go... only problem will be finding the black plastic pieces in the track that open and close the roof lol...

Also bought another one in 2012 for our other place and it has been great too. It has gas top and electric oven.

This unit is still working great since making video. No problema's. Nov 2023 When we open the oven door we open all the way when letting it cool down and to let heat out into house. We figure just cracking it open lets the heat heat up the computer so not taking any chances there.

Wet floor caused by clogged skylight drain. Had to remove seat and various trim plastic then lift carpet and remove front and back floor pads . The pads will drain if set on edge. Carpet and its attached insulation will drain if propped up with sticks. Shop vac the water. After carpet drains for a day put heater in car for two days to dry carpet. You can feed a 1/4 od plastic hose down the hose by opening skylight and feeding into hole in corner if you need too. I think the water was running down the A post that video shows after overflowing in skylight

This is so perfect. I didn’t even have to replace my control panel. Thanks to awesome video was able to access everything and just fixed lose electrical connections but mainly the clear plastic membrane running from panel trough touch screen that is really close to heat and repositioned. Thank you so much having this old range and helping me and everyone else

Hi there, do you know what that green sensor next to and on the top of the upper radiator hose is? My 87 is missing that connector/wire entirely and my temp gauge doesn’t read. Any help would be appreciated!

To get the oil out of the head, use a spray bottle hose and put it in the oil, and spray into the bottle container

Came only on US and Canada models as optional equipment with one the packages called the Convenience Package. The JDM model, the Sprinter Carib, and all other Tercel 4wd's did not come with them

Whatever they did there doesn’t need to be that complicated….way too much wiring for something so small, the fuel pump should also be mounted near the fuel tank, it’s working really hard to draw fuel all the way from the engine bay.

Great video! Yesterday i hit a snowbank with the rear right wheel during ice lapping. Lever seems to shift but there is 1st gear at neutral position, maybe 4th at 1st and no neutral or reverse. Any idea? Thanks in advance
