Your single malt is beautiful! I love the colour and pattern and they pair really well. I often use cascade yarn for my guy’s knits - it’s Peruvian wool too but quite low cost and easily accessible (at least here). I don’t think I’ve seen the Filcolana in stores here, but I believe it’s the exact same make up as the cascade. I will keep my fingers crossed you got the body done and that it blocks bigger and softer for you:)

Wow your progress this week is amazing- you’re on fire! I always find that working out the minimum I need to do each day is the only way I’m going to be successful at finishing something. It usually leads me to do more because I want to “get ahead”. Lol

Oh My Goodness! I started the mosaic make along with Expression Fiber Arts last year, knitted through the fifth month and it’s been hibernating ever since! LOL! I’m using stash cotton yarn and look forward to having the heavy, but breathable blanket, but it’s such an intense knit!!! Even on the ‘wrong side’ you have to watch your yarn placement. 😅 I hope to make it a bit longer, but I don’t know if I’ll do all 12 sections. 🤔

Cardigans are on my to-do list as well. I have one I need to reknit and then I need some in neutral colours so we’ll see what I get through this next season. I think that brown yarn will make a really useful cardigan:)

The slightly sassy vee has been on my list for a while. The only reason I haven’t made it is that I wondered if it was too similar to the cumulus blouse? I don’t know if it warrants buying another pattern- I’ll have to investigate as I really love the looks of the one with the 3/4 sleeves.

The colours for your porcelain sweater are gorgeous!! I have loved every yarn I’ve knit with from the Fibre co so I’m sure that one will be delicious too. I have considered doing the porcelain sweater in pink and cream but I’m worried that all that ease would swamp me and make me look like I’m wearing my mom’s sweater.

Thats exactly how i feel but like i said in the video a homespun house did make a much less over sized version with 3/4 length sleeves that look good. i often size down in oversized patterns.

I have never knitted with 100% linen. I felt it in a store in Alaska, but the feel put me off. I’ll be interested to see how you make out! Is your yarn purple or black? I like your idea of slowly working on it so you have a new tee come summer.

Your slippers look great! I made slippers for a friend, but they were much simpler. Are those felted? They look very warm and sturdy and will be an awesome gift!

I have a question before you get into the patterns- have you used the 52 weeks books? Which one would you purchase first or do you have another book you would buy first? I have a gift card and was considering buying one of them :)

@@ajborthwick7239 Thank you. I must admit i haven’t used them yet but I’m definitely going to. I think i will get the most use out of the sock ones. They are beautiful to look through too lol. I have picked a pattern and a yarn for a beautiful pair from the first book.

@@ajborthwick7239 That’s not one ive heard of. I only have 3 books. The summer lee one, the 2 52 weeks of socks and the 52 weeks of accessories. The accessories one has a good mix of hats socks shawls/scarfs and a few other bits. I’d probably say that if you can it would be best to have a look at them before you decide. Xx

@@mlea79 I know the feeling as I’m working on Umbria- trying to get it done asap. In a perfect world, I have two projects that I can switch back and forth between so they all get done, but I get a break. Maybe you could go between your test knit sock and the sweater this time or you can threaten yourself with picking up the Paul sweater stitches🤣🤣🤣

thank you. i was very unsure before blocking but now i can see it will be super cosy in winter. lets just hope i can tolerate the alpaca fluff 🤷🏻‍♀️ ive not heard of toque so i will look that up xxx

Congrats on the finish of your eclipse- it looks great! You picked a lovely yarn combo:). Your love link socks are looking great too. I’m impressed you’re using 9” circulars- that’s my least favourite method as I find my hands cramp way too much. The pattern is coming out much clearer now that you’re done more of them.

@@ajborthwick7239 yes my hand does cramp too but i find its the best method for a better finished object. I find magic loop always looks weird at the edge of each needle but it may just be practice.

@@mlea79 I agree that the ends of magic loop and DPNs can ladder but I also think those things can be mostly fixed with blocking whereas those two methods would allow you to knit inside out and spread your stitches out more which would help with your sizing.

Even though I wear a ton of shawls to work, I still prefer to make a garment when I can:) Can’t wait to see what’s on your autumn/winter knit list. I just pull my autumn coloured yarns for September/october/december. Then I’ll decide what to make later.

Ok I’m knitting on socks as I watch you and you had me curious so I checked my gauge, which I don’t think I’ve ever done with socks before and I get roughly 30 stitches per 4”.

I’ll have to try 50/50 silk and wool. Last summer I used a few 100% silk and realized it’s not my favourite because it just keeps growing while you’re wearing it.

I have the knitting for olive pure silk but I’m holding it with another yarn which is cotton so we shall see if thats the same. (Although im a little unsure if i want to make blouse no.1 now with the issues with my last sabai lol)

Have you thought about doing them in sport weight? I know as a loose knitter I either have to go down needle sizes or down yarn weight, maybe it would work the other way too. As well, are you pushing your stitches so they are well spread out before you knit them? This is the reason I like using DPNs so that you can really spread the stitches out. I’ll go watch your next video so I can see what you ended up doing:)

Colours are great. Socks never fit me if I try them on while still on the needle, I use a Barbara cord or waste yarn to try on. Also it looks like the rib is tight on your foot before you even get to the colour work section 🤔 so may have to go up to an even bigger needle size??? If gauge isn't met it won't fit, so don't worry about what size needle you need to increase to, if it works for you it doesn't matter! You will get there and find your groove xx

@@teresa275 I’m lucky to have a lovely stash and after buying lots of single skeins at my first ever yarn festival i realised that there wasnt a lot i could knit with them. I want to knit garments that are wearable and fit into my wardrobe. At my second festival i made sure to buy mainly garment quantities hence the growth in my stash. Most of my sweater quantities are earmarked for garments and i will talk about them soon as I’m planning to do an autumn plans video xx

I cannot knit on the small circular needle at all find it hard on my hands. I have never tried magic loop but hoping to very soon. I always knit socks on DPNs, top down and it always work for me. 😊

@@teresa275 well done for managing DPNs i find them so fiddly. I sometimes find small circulars hard on my hands so have to take breaks. Magic loop is much more comfortable but i don’t find the finish is as good.

@@mlea79 I learnt on DPNs so easy for me now. Think I agree with you about magic loop, my friend always knits magic loop and there is just something about the look of them but could not tell you what it is!?🤣😂x

I would totally try the magic loop for the second sock. I also pick up four extra stitches on each side of my heel (I do a short row heel) and then decrease them out in the first three rows after the heel which can give you more room in the area that is stretching. The toe I do is the rounded toe that Mina Phillips has in her patterns and I really like it

An alternative to knitting on DPNs and magic loop is knitting on two circular needles. Half of the stiches on one needle, the other half on the second needle. Always take the first needle and knit all the stiches of this needle, then drop the needle, take the other one and knit all the stiches there. When you are knitting socks you will need to change the position of the needles 1/4 round when it comes to the heel and the decreasing parts. I prefer DPNs, but in many cases depending on the project I choose this method and I really enjoy it. Magic loop is not for me.

Hi Marie Have a look at knitting and so on blog she has a pattern called the battenburg sock with an ergonomic toe which would be perfect for you Also the rounded toe is good for squared toes have a look at the bakery bears she has a few patterns that incorporate the umbrella toe I start for a normal toe at the top part of my little toe and decrease as normal then when you have 18 stitches in each side just do your decrease rounds down to 10 stitches then your Kitchener It just shortens the wedge a little and is a better fit 😊❤
