This is awesome! I too have been searching for a clear copy of this movie. Loved it as a kid, mainly for the car. What a beauty! Thank you for your obsession!

Saw this movie in the mid ‘70s. Always thought it interesting that Art Carney (Ed Norton) chases Burt in “WW …” and Jackie Gleason (Ralph Kramden) chases him in “Smokey and the Bandit.”

I remember seeing the “World Premiere “ showing of this film in Murfreesboro Tn upon release. Seems like the Buick Special car was on display & some of the actors but not Burt. Long time ago & I was a teenager.

Thanks for keeping Burt Reynolds memory alive. And so many outstanding talented people from this film are no longer with us anymore either.

The studio wanted to bury this movie because it goes against everything that is considered sacred by a few powerful people in Hollywood.

The flag symbolized that he was a Young Turk. Basically a rebel or revolutionary. It was a common term in the 50s.

Dukes was based on Moonrunners. It had nothing to do with Smokey and the Bandit, other than minor roles with Sonny Shroyer, Ben Jones and John Schneider as an uncredited extra

His movies got so silly there was barely any racing in them just gags that are not funny and guest stars or should I say friends he could just hang with what’s the point

It’s corny but hilarious! Must have seen it like 5 times. Unfortunately unpretentious comedy like this is impossible in these days, when even James Bond has turned into a depressed grouch.

I'd only seen TV cuts of this movie and there are some really great moments filled in. Really love Jerry Reed's "A Friend", searched the internet for the first ten years of the internet and had given up.

When I was a kid in the 80's there was a scene in this movie with Loni in a fringed bikini. Through the years I've watched it several times and never saw that scene again. Does anyone know the story behind why it was removed??

I like the heck outta the movie but I can't help but notice all the cracks the director chose to take against the southern folk. Makes it kinda blasphemous against the Lord a little bit too, but I still enjoy the movie.. especially your cleaned-up version of it, Gator. Being a southern man, myself, a Nashville area native, I get a kick outta seeing all the stomping grounds like they used to be. 👌
