Truly hilarious how utterly insane the UK became during COVID

Ah the Captain Tom saga. One of the most surreal parts of lockdown 2020 to me. Felt like it could have come out of The Day Today or Brass Eye.

I recently had someone very close to me pass away to cancer. She was the strongest person I've ever known. She never gave up. The cancer never broke her. Her will never left her. But the amount that mattered simply grew less and less, beyond anybody's control. "The weight of will slowly diminishes."

This has to be one of the nicest songs ever written and I love Ron's live version of it. What a nice guy Ron is and so humble for an A list celebrity. His guitar playing is an enigma he plucks away with one or two fingers and ends up with the bass the melody the strum and the rifts all at once, I have never seen a playing style like Ron's it i totally unique. One would have thought that McCartney or Sting would have begged him to let them cover this song, imagine if Eva Cassidy would have got hold of it. As Ron says himself "he has a sort of a cult following" in the UK we sort of call this folk music and although no-one get's to be too famous from it the likes of Bert Jansh and Ralph McTell had this very same cult following that Ron has.

One of my favourite songs ever by one of my favourite ever singers. I wrote the below poem for it, and Paul. :) Standing in Mid Air For Paul Buchanan His voice is ice cracking a wind resting a hailstorm ending his voice is porcelain breathing a leaf falling embers fading his voice is the land sighing broken glass crunching a mirror misting his words are everything else
