There are also verbs that always take se, like quejarse and arrepentirse. They don't exist without it. Then there are verbs which change meaning when se is added, like ir(go), irse(leave), perder (to lose something) and perderse (to get lost). Se is the most difficult concept of Spanish. I'm sure it messes with Spanish speaker's minds.

I'm from Canada, I'm a native French speaker, and here we don't use "vous" (usted) as strictly as we did when we were kids. We used it with every adult. I'm in my forties now, and I use "tu" (french) with everyone, even my boss, except I use "vous" (french version of usted) only for people older than 70. In France, apparently it's considered disrespectful to use "tu", but in Canada we're a lot more relaxed about it. So it's the same when I speak Spanish in Canada, I use "tu" and expect the same from them. I suppose if I worked in Spanish speaking countries I would use what is expected of me (when in Rome do like the Romans do), but here, no.

I love how direct he is. There’s crazy long videos out there but he condenses it into a reasonable time. Unfortunately, I think it might have to do with race. A white guy teaching Spanish vs. Someone who looks Spanish teaching Spanish, who are most people going to flock to first?

Does the "sharp" author of this Spanish video lesson for foreigners and "budding" teacher believe that it is really worth simplifying the learning of verbal conjugation in Spanish... to the point of supposedly saving time, knowledge and skimping his Spanish students in learning the final ending of the 2nd person plural of all the verbs corresponding to the personal pronoun "vosotros"!, in addition to hiding its daily use by almost 46 million Spanish speakers who exist only in Spain?

#6:30 Excuse me, but "se vende casa" or "se prohibe entrar" (I would say: "NOT enter")" are paradigmatic examples in Spanish language of IMPERSONAL sentences with "se". No way, both examples, could be able to be examples of "passive reflexive sentences with se". Since all passive reflexive sentences with "se" must be capable of being transformed into passive voice sentences whose MANDATORY "agent complement", which could be omitted because it could ALWAYS be deduced from the context in which the phrase is used. And in the case of "se vende casa" no Spanish speaker could transform it into: "The house is sold=la casa es vendida"; since, not only does it sound totally inappropriate, but it would be INCOMPLETE due to in Spanish language the passive voice OBLIGATELY requires knowing or (at least) being able to DEDUCE WITHOUT ERROR (hence omitting!) by whom "the house is sold" (opposite than English language)? It lacks the "agent complement" of the passive voice in Spanish; since we will NEVER be able to deduce from context whether "the house is sold" + BY a real estate agency or BY + an individual or individuals. And since it cannot be known or deduced, that is, precisely!, the essence by DEFINITION of an impersonal sentence with "se" in Spanish language.. in my humble opinion.

_"Excuse me, but "se vende casa" or "se prohibe entrar" (I would say: "NOT enter")" are paradigmatic examples in Spanish language of IMPERSONAL sentences with "se"._ No, _Se vende casa_ is indeed a passive construction. You can easily prove that by using a plural subject, i. e.: _Se venden casas._ In impersonal constructions, the verb is ALWAYS conjugated in the third singular person, regardless whether the direct object is singular or plural. On the other hand, in passive constructions with _se,_ the verb must agree with the passive subject in plural if it is a plural object. The same happens in _Se prohíbe entrar._ This construction uses the infinitive _entrar_ as a noun in what in Spanish grammar is known as a "sintagma nominal". You can prove this by inserting an article (only nouns can have an article) _Se prohíbe el fumar_ which is equivalent to _El fumar está prohibido._ In standard Spanish, the use of impersonal constructions is normally limited to refer to humans or humanized things: _Se les recomendó [a ellos] que no fumaran; A la patria se la ama sin reparos._ When referring to inanimate subjects (things), the normal construction is a passive structure with _se: Aquí se venden huevos = Huevos son vendidos aquí._ P. S.: More information about his subject can be found by searching for _se_ in Real Academia Española's _Diccionario panhispánico de dudas._

Why is “yo caminado” is wrong and “yo caminé” correct I understand some verbs like “hablar” for instance “I speaked” is wrong but I still don’t get why it is a big deal I have looked at all sorts of literature and it still doesn’t satisfy me when they either say “it’s the Spanish language and not English” or “it doesn’t provide the complete idea or context” when it clearly does like the shortest sentence in the world “Jesus Wept.” It conveys the idea of -ed in the -t suffix I am being critical because it is frustrating when I can see that it could be done and simplify the language but no I have to be given unconvincing arguments I am just asking a critical question is that bad.

That's one of the most frustrating things about Spanish. They have 46,000 ways of saying the same thing. Chaqueta means masturbate in Mexico? Please. Everybody is taught that it means jacket in grade school.
@TylerLL2112

I can't help but wonder if it comes from the fact that "Jack it" is a slang for masturbation in English also(At least in America). So while not spelled the same, Jack it /Jacket. But, I'm an English speaker so I can't really comment on how it means that in Mexico.
