"Surviving a hike without a group or a professional is nearly impossible." Say what!?! We are talking about a hike that is one of the most popular in the park. You cannot walk go for an entire minute without seeing someone else heading up or down.

I always wonder what it was like for them. What was it like when they realized they were in trouble? What was it like when they realized they were doomed? Was it calm acceptance? Was it panic and frenzy? Did they harm the captain for putting them in that situation once they realized it was a doomed mission? So many questions. Such a sad and scary situation. Nobody should have to go like that. 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🫡

I have grown up hiking the Whites year round. Underestimation of these mountains is rampant among people visiting because the mountains are all less than 6300ft. The trails are rough and the weather can be unforgiving. Hell I have gotten snowed on in June in the Whites before. Not to mention Mt Washington actually being one of the deadliest mountains in the USA. The wind can also be terrible when ridge walking or at summits year round. I could see how he lost his way at the top. Condolences to Guopeng Li's family, AND please be mindful when hiking here.

Poor soul R.I.P! I did that same hike back in late September, 2021 It took us a little more than 6 hours to complete with good weather conditions. About an hour to finish we encountered 3 ladies a little off course, it was dark already they didn’t have flashlights, their cellphones were about to run out of battery and it was getting cold. They were so happy that we were able to help them! These type of hike are woundeful but you do need to be prepared because things could go wrong.

It’s sad that you sensationalize this with photos that aren’t even from the Yosemite Falls hike. Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls are nowhere near the Upper Yosemite Falls trail. This calls to question any of your commentary… I hiked that exact trail (as well as the Mist Trail to Half Dome that goes by Vernal and Nevada Falls the following day). “Surviving a hike without a group or professional help is nearly impossible”. OMG - that’s totally a falsification! I ascended from the trailhead to the top of the falls in 1 hour, and descended in 3/4 hour. Yes, a person could take their time and take longer if they want/need. You may as well have taken photos of El Capitan and said that he decided to go solo some cliff.

It makes you question what if he did listen to his grandmother along with who was the guy in the last picture Dayleen took? Is he involved in his disappearance? Hopefully one day we’ll find out what happened to him.

I'm an experienced hiker having completed the 100 highest mtns in New England, the 46 "4000" foot Adirondack mtns, and the 35 Catskill mtns over 3500 feet. There are numerous things people should understand about hiking the high peaks, of which the most important items to consider are as follows: 1. Hike in a group of at least 4 people (in case a person is injured, 1 person can stay with the injured person and 2 can return to get help); 2. Bring clothing/equipment appropriate for cold/wet weather (don't wear anything made of cotton for example); 3. Be prepared mentally to turn around if conditions start looking unfavorable (this young woman should not have proceeded in snowy weather wearing the clothing/shoes she had with a sub-zero temperature forecast). Don't let your objective of completing a hike supersede the importance of being safe; 4. Bring and know how to use critical equipment (i.e. map, compass, headlamp with spare batteries); 5. Do not rely on electronic equipment like a cell phone to guide you or for using to call for help (cold weather saps battery power and service is unreliable); 6. Air temperature drops 3.5 or 5.4 degrees F for every 1,000 feet of higher elevation (decrease depends on if it is raining/snowing or not, respectively). 7. Bring extra water and food in case group gets stuck outside overnight. I hope that this list is helpful to people.

I think that WHOLE GROUP of people that went with him all the way up to the top of the falls watched him fall in all go over. It probably freaked them all out so bad they left the park right away. That's why they didn't want to take part of the investigation cause they already knew what happened.

Yet another sad reminder about that even those who should know better can underestimate nature, and overestimate their own ability. It's also a reminder about that even if your mobile phone actually does get a signal strong enough for you to call for help, and you actually also can tell them roughly were you are, the same weather which stops you from getting to safety, can also be stopping any rescuers from getting to you in time to save your life. I hope the fact that they found his body, is a bit of a comfort, and closure to those who loved him.

Just a hunch but I strongly believe it was a military personnel from Schofield Barracks that had something to do with his disappearance. This is based solely on the picture of the man following him. It strongly resembles someone in the military: tactical, stopwatch/fitbit/ haircut, personality of someone hunting a human. There’s more to it, but I believe it’s worth looking into.

@@alotofsas honestly I just had a hunch when I saw the pixelated picture of the person stalking him from afar. He appeared to be wearing a watch similar to that of one I used to wearing during my stint in the Army. Secondly an individual with that career is possible to develop or even already have the mindset of a killer. He has probably stalked a few people on the trail before and had a plan to execute the next time he caught someone alone. Likely it’s his first time killing and could do it again, but I don’t have enough information to make an educated guess that I am comfortable with saying. This was a challenge to him. The thrill of the kill was his motiv (imo). As far as him watching and/or reading about it, I have no doubts he is. In fact he could be reading this now.
@mikenew5380
@mikenew5380 2 ай бұрын
@@alotofsasI should add that his body build and length of hair also fit the profile of an active or former military member. It wasn’t just the watch and again I understand it’s very pixelated, it’s just a hunch and I could be wrong

My theories: Julian Sands was 65 years old. As some one who's 62, I've buried enough friends who were in great shape, who suffered sudden heart attacks and died. Given Julian's extensive climbing and hiking experience(over 200 summits of My Baldy alone), I'd say from his photos with a helmet and spikes on other summits, knowing what gear to bring that he already owned, was something he would be an expert at. I believe Julian Sands had a sudden and massive, coronary embolism, died and then the predators who would be feeding in that area, got hold of him and the remains stayed scattered until they were found. That or someone murdered him on the trail, took all his valuable gear and dumped the body in the least likely place it would be found. 😳
