Im interested in the plating method used to get the gold out of the pregnant solution. Is the electrode used titanium? Is the wool the cathode?
@juan-2-many27 күн бұрын
I tried your steel wool idea this week. It was a fail for me, but only because my ac adapters all dropped voltage when I connected them. I tried a 5v and 9v adapter and both dropped to 1v when connected to anode. I need a power supply and also stainless steel plate. *Thanks for the video!

I used drain cleaner for my acid. They put additives in the acid, that's where the brown colour comes from.

If you want to put a lot of toxic chemicals in your body while also contaminating your entire home and poisoning your neighbors, do what this fool is doing. This video is a perfect example of how NOT to strip gold from electronics.
@Seeing_Red2 ай бұрын
The mere fact that most of this is done outdoors mitigates the exposure to vapors. However, since you are the chemical afficionado, do share your expert alternative method. Did you take note of the significant duration of time it took to complete this recovery, accounting for very low volumes of acid used for digestion and dissolution?
@ako2account5742 ай бұрын
@@Seeing_Red Yes, it’s outside. Where you have no control over where those toxic fumes end up. The proper way to do this is under a vapor hood that captures those toxic fumes so you’re not poisoning your neighbors or someone walking/driving by. The fact that it takes longer only means you’re pumping out toxic gases for a longer period. So you know you’re poisoning your house, your yard and exposing your neighbors and anyone walking by with toxic fumes… and all you do is try to excuse it with make-believe “science”. How disgusting.

If you are going to run those round connectors in a Sulfuric acid stripping cell, I suggest you try to remove the inner plastic bits by punching them out. The sulfuric acid cannot reach past the plastic. I do believe the metal parts are completely plated in gold. You may be missing recovering a lot of gold unless you make sure all metal parts are exposed.
@andromeda18922 ай бұрын
💯% mate. I have to go through every connector and remove the plastic and inner pins. Should be good plating on them though.
@scrapman5022 ай бұрын
@@andromeda1892 I haven't used a stripping cell in a couple of years, but a good way to do it I think is to get some copper wire and string the hollow connectors on them and twist the wire tight for a good connection. Then just dip them in and turn on the juice. The larger pieces I take a copper clip and connect it to the piece and then dip it in and turn on the juice. all really small parts I put into a copper mesh basket, pack them in tight and then dip the entire basket into the acid.
