Hello Calvin greetings from Barcelona. If you did like VIC, I recommend you to listen to a dude who makes compilations of "stoner/doom/hard rock" from around the world called Weedian. Search here in KZbin for Weedian - Trip to (and the name of the country or the state in case of USA) and you gonna find an amazing compilation from that zone 😉I hope you enjoy!

Sadly John Peel died 20 years ago, such an amazingly influential DJ and journalist in his championing of new musical talent. I used to listen to his late night radio show on BBC radio 1, when I should’ve been asleep ready for going to school the next day. Even though he was born over here, his first radio job was in the US, before moving back here in the 1960s.

Oh wow, I should have looked that up! I guess I was tricked by the newer releases coming out over the last 10 years or so. Thanks for adding that information!

@@calvinwazoo no problem 😊. None of us can know everything so it didn’t spoil the video in any way. That’s a record I must seek out though as it’d be a nice addition to my Floyd/Syd collection.

One of the interesting aspects of this collective / band is the range of sound that they achieved. One of my favorite songs ever is Stella Maris (1996) from Ende Neu. There is an english version but it sounds so much better in German. Have fun!

Not sure how anyone can justify $50 for a SINGLE lp modern reissue, but I do love the premium heavy stock covers, and the green vinyl is cool. $50?!, that's ridiculous- even the top audiophile companies don't charge $50 for single albums.

I got that *300% Dynamite* comp & was immediately disappointed by how it darts all over the Reggae map (the early stuff is my fave) but hey... I wound up listening to the damned thing at least 4 times since then & it has grown on me like the friggin' BLOB 🔥

Nice pickup. This is a good place to start with Einsturzende Neubaten. On the less avant-garde (but still excellent) side try Ende Neu. And Halber Mensch is challenging but amazing. Saw them live once; one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. Cheers!

I got the Fleet Foxes Live album, which sounds incredible and is over 3 discs. Also got The Cures “The Top” I know, I know picture discs… but it sounds great, very happy with it. Lastly I bought the Parliament one on discogs, as both my locals didn't have it. I really wanted the Blur album, but it was gone by the time I got there 😢

Great cover on that Gorillaz release. I don't know much about them (or Blur for that matter), but I was intrigued enough by that cover to check out the title song (and its cool video with Thundercat). I didn't wait in line on RSD...I did visit my local shop after they were open, but the boxes of RSD releases had been cleaned out. (Last year I didn't come in until the day after RSD but I still found one of the two albums I mainly wanted.)

Richard, does anyone beside you, still use the word, ''racy'' anymore? A flaccid penis seems less offensive than an erect penis, just like an un-loaded gun seems less dangerous than a loaded gun. Silly human race! I discovered Ryo Kawasaki through his playing with Gil Evans, on the "Gil Evans Orchestra Plays The Music Of Jimi Hendrix'' from 1974. I've got Ryo's solo acoustic cd, ''My Reverie'' from 1993, it shows off another side of his gifts. He plays tunes associated with Bill Evans and some works by Ravel, Debussy and Gershwin. I found a cd EP of Ryuichi Sakamoto's first collaborative effort with Fennesz, it's a live 19 minute piece recorded in Rome in 2004, the title is ''Sala Santa Cecilia'', it fills my ears with goodness!

Very cool video! You can never go wrong with Boards of Canada and Ryuichi Sakamoto. The Black Dog's 'Spanners' is one of my favourite albums of all time. Two of the three Black Dog guys continued as Plaid, who continue to make excellent albums and tour them. If you want to check out Autechre, 'Tri Repeat' is THE album for me, because their later work is more experimental and abstract - although there are some gems to be discovered. That PSBoys 12" is definitely on my wishlist too!

Yes, I did have a wonderful time. And then I returned to snow flurries and 30s, lol. As I said about Kitaro, it's New Age music, which is the pop music of the electronic genre IMO. I don't mind Kitaro, and I don't regret the purchases I made, but I won't by buying any more.
