Hi, I had the same responce as you when I read this book, but I then watched a Tv series based on the books and enjoyed them. They really brought the series to life. Merry Christmas and thank for a great year of books. Robyn

Did you try any others in the series? I do plan to eventually read the complete series.

Great review! I just read it and it was mind-blowingly twisty and twisted read! Gave it four star because it was a bit too long but other than that great read! 😊

Thank you! Yes, it's so twisty. It's a book that deserves much more attention.

Second Comment : Also you had some stinkers this month. The 9/11 book (I agree, distasteful) and the 4 year old child villain book. Oh dear - not great.

I have been working my way through a Goodreads list of the best 48 mysteries and thrillers from the past three years. Even though I enjoy those genres, the books haven't always been the best.
@helenclare32504 күн бұрын
I very rarely DNF. Mainly because I know what I like and my genres. Occasionally I'll be surprised within that. Two examples; a book that was juvenile and patronising, I just couldn't stand it and a book that was horribly graphic that was not in that genre. Those weren't worth pushing on with. I hope you have a good reading December and are feeling better.
@TheHonestBookReviewer4 күн бұрын
Thank you. I am feeling better with each day. I have been thinking a lot lately on why I don't DNF, but part of me still can't do it, even though it would save me time. I think it's because I believe there has to be something good in every book somewhere.

I think i like your point about how inconsequential everything feels in this book. There are no stakes, and hence, no real tension. What i ultimately never understood was why a several hundred years old vampire would fall for a highschool girl. It made the whole book - for me - feel more like a romantic fantasy with a self-insert character than an actual story.

New Moon was my favorite, lol !! Bella however got on my nerves as well! I would have been perfectly fine if one of the wolves had eaten her 😂

@@TheHonestBookReviewer Hello ;) I tried to answer you on this a couple of weeks ago twice but the comment kept disappearing. I enjoyed Jacob’s character development as well . I also liked the introduction to wolves storyline in the book.
@TheHonestBookReviewer4 күн бұрын
That;s so strange about the comment, but I think KZbin has issues at times. Having the wolves in the book makes it better, I think. I'm still yet to read books 4 and 5.

I tried to read one of these. It was not for me and I thought it was poorly written. That said, if these books got the teens to read, well, that is a positive thing.

I did read this and most of the rest in the series. Excellent series although there are one or two that aren't quite as good as the others. Still Life is definitely one of the best. I like how you described the characters, especially your observations about mask wearing. As you continue the series you see the masks slipping and that's what really intrigues me.

I read the Tomorrow series when I was in high school, I loved it and couldn't read it fast enough. Its such an iconic series, I think for the reasons you listed, the characters are so well written that it almost feels like a biography, the thought provoking narrative around the ethics of warfare, and the strong female leads at the expense of the male characters was really refreshing to read ( I feel like you either have a strong female or strong male lead, and the opposite is almost dumbed down to make the lead seem stronger, and that doesn't happen in this series). I definitely need to re-read this series. A great video, and a great range of books you've read this month. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on the goodreads list and wrap up too 😊
