I’d love if one day you can make a video where you give us your recommendations on machines for the main types of sewists. Like the total beginner, the aspiring dressmaker, the quilter, the sewing business owner… ❤

You're a genius! Just used for the first time, very nervous deviating from how the pattern told me to insert, but GAME CHANGER!

yes I love my "humper jumper"- I didnt know it had a name- it came with my Pfaff! <3 ? <3 At the end you said something I ws going to say as well: placing a contrast colour of paer (yellow Post-It for me) it helps me tremendously if I can't get the thread immediatelt through..thanks again

Thank you! I had heard that it was really challenging to do a french seam on an armhole but tbh it seems easier to me than figuring out how to finish the seam otherwise. Like here I am staring at my armhole seam, no serger available, thinking, “do i try to bias bind this nonsense?”

I 100% understand that need for a break feeling! I sometimes put so much pressure on myself to do things quickly when really I could just take it a little slower… recently I made a mistake but kind of fudged a solution. Once finished I didn’t give it to my daughter for several days and then just thought no, I need to fix this, it will be so much better if I do. The fix ended up being quick and the dress is just so lovely now 🥰

I always enjoy the instructions but with an overlocker I would have appreciated being able to see the actual lower threading . Your hand obscured the view of the”tricky” bits. Thanks for your videos very helpful.

Hi Dear! Thank you for the great video!! Very helpful!! Just another great tip while sewing the kids jeans hem, just turn them inside out, much easier to manage under the needle. Works great also for the sleeves. 🥰

I’m currently sewing up 8528 in a poly wool plaid suiting fabric. I’m so excited to have it completed. I love the fabric you chose for it and may make again with your choice if I like it as much as I think I will.

The dresses are looking more vintage-y lately. The pants with the wide flared bottoms are from the 70’s! . We called them bell bottoms!
@SewEssential
@SewEssential 6 күн бұрын
Yes there are definitely some vintage vibes coming through, which I love and the 70s is my favourite fashion era, when I was a teenager my Mom sewed extra sections into the legs of my jeans to make them bell bottom/flare!

Hi, darts that go from the collar in front. There are 2 lines, one thick and short and the other long. The one that is short should I cut along the line or just sew it up?

I have a basic stand alone cover stitch. It works fairly well on one layer but as soon as you add on seams these pose a challenge. When you lose a stitch you can not quickly fix it. I use it when I have a fairly flat seam. I know some people don’t use it due to the challenges. I suggest you try one out and try it with different types of fabric and over seams.

I have had the Atelier 6 and recently upgraded to the 9. I love this range, lots of features and its so easy to use. The only point I would make is that whilst the needle threader is good it does have its issues too. Works with certain needle brands and sizes and thread types better than others. It can be quite frustrating. I tend not to use the auto thread cutter. If you use it the next time you sew it can cause nesting underneath. Saying that these are the only niggles it has otherwise I love my Atelier 9. This video is very informative and reminded me of some features I had forgotten about.

I have made Elodie several times and it is amazing every time. I made one knee length out of chambray and it is a great summer running errands, going to the hair salon dress. I made one tea length out of georgette in a palm print for my birthday and it is so nice and light and not too formal but still looks nice, I made it in a gown length in a black georgette and it is wonderful it’s very much in the spirit of the Reformation Winslow dress.
