Dan, you can make a temporary test connection to a test speaker from the factory door speakers harness using alligator jumper clips (harbor freight has them). Try that to see if the speaker is toast. Door speakers are prone to failure as water drains through the door. Just a 6.5 inch speakers should fit. All that tweeter stuff is not reliable as water drains past the window glass and through the door. I agree GM quality sucks. Most everything newer does in all makes. I like the older trucks much better. Less complicated and don't suck so much. Lol. 73 GOD bless Earnest K5EWM 👍.

All depends on what you want to do with the car. Best thing would be a full frame wrap for a basic street car I always recommend doing a partial on all the wheel openings and a bridge in the rear with the inside of the rear arches plated also. If you are going to be painting the car you can also add fiberglass to the inside of the rear quarter panels to keep them from buckeling

@thecadillacdanshow8658Ай бұрын
@benguinentertainment a streetcharger charges your battery's while you drive. I have not charged my battery's since April. I drive my car a lot I have 5 battery's running at 60 volts to the front pump so I have a 60 volt charger
@benguinentertainmentАй бұрын
If I had 4 batteries running 48v and another running 4 running 48v and I put 2 street chargers on is that too much for the alternator to handle
@thecadillacdanshow8658Ай бұрын
@benguinentertainment you can do it that way and be OK or you can run one and run two charging wires but two streetchargers would keep both banks charged better if you are on the switches a lot

I had the same from one purchased from Vegas that I bought for a 65 impala. I had the same issue. I believe what the problem is that when the driveline is at its extended length there is not enough spline inside the shaft allowing it to keep it from rocking up and down. I believe there’s just a few inches inside of it. I ended up destroying mine where it sheared the set screws as well. I took it to a driveline shop and had one made and the spline side is 8 inches long that goes into the other end. The slip side no longer wobbles with more spline side inside the shaft.
@thecadillacdanshow8658Ай бұрын
What's up man I remember you from layitlow that's along one of the ideas I was thinking kind of touched on with the set screw you would think if they did a set screw they would at least have the minimal amount in the yoke that would be stable. Thanks for the input
@KINGFISHCUSTOMSАй бұрын
@@thecadillacdanshow8658 Ya when layitlow used to be fun. I actually responded to your post in facebook too. I posted a picture of the drive shaft i had made. I honestly don't think anything is going to fix the issue on these units other then having more spline into the shaft. I feel it comes down to the amount of spline that is inside the shaft when the car is at its lowest point. When i pulled the one out of my 65 to see if i could figure out why the vibration was so bad, the top of the slip yoke wobbled like a bobble head. The one i had was so bad that the only reason why the drive shaft didnt pole vault the car when it had come a part was due to the driveshaft had some compression even with the car low. So that pressure kept the spline inside of the shaft thankfully. That driveshaft wobble will get worse in time and potentially wear out the rear seal in the tranny or even worse the actual tail shaft and guts inside from it going up and down and round and round. My 65 Impala has a 2000 RPM stall converter with a 383 stroker/700R4 transmission 500hp with 490ft lbs or torque. The one i had made cost me $550 i believe which is not much more than the slip yoke i had purchased. I would honestly get with a drive line shop and have them make one that for you. Looks like you need less than 6 inches of travel.
@thecadillacdanshow8658Ай бұрын
@KINGFISHCUSTOMS yeah my problem area is getting to where I have to have the car lower and lower for it to not do it I have been talking to the drive shaft shop but he dosnt know od anything that had that much slip. I have also been talking with Jay from new England car guys (check his channel out if you haven't alredy) he did a double slip in his and said he has not had any issues he told me he made it 4 inches longer then stock so each slip had 2 inches of compression so I may try that
@KINGFISHCUSTOMSАй бұрын
@@thecadillacdanshow8658 I had originally installed my slip on the front so it was hidden under the car as the drive shaft was chrome plated. They couldnt balance it until they put pressure on the slip to get the wobble out. Which didnt really help me any since it didnt have pressure on it when I was lower and trying to drive as you know the cars get a little a$$ heavy and gets a little squirrely. You could definitely double slip it, but to me that is just trying to add something to fix an issue that really doesnt fix it. I think that even with a double slip when its installed it may not put equal pressure on them. I am using the same spring that was on the slip I had bought, but made a longer spline side that allowed more to go inside of the shaft. Still have the same amount of slip available, but was able to get more meat inside of the other end to keep it from wobbling when the car is at its lowest point and was able to balance it as well.
@KINGFISHCUSTOMSАй бұрын
@@thecadillacdanshow8658 I think if they built them with the slip and spring about 6 inches further down there would be more spline in the shaft and that may be rid of the wobble.
@CoupeondaytonsАй бұрын
There's got to be a better way to make one of these. I have the same one and I've been jerking around with it for years. I'm not a fan of it.
@carguysnewenglandАй бұрын
Dan you gotta set the slip yoke so it’s 2 inches longer than the stock drive shaft then you will get two inches of slip both ways and zero vibrations… it that isn’t enough run one on each end of the driveshaft.
@thecadillacdanshow8658Ай бұрын
When I seen yours I figured you would have major issues out of it so you have yours where it's compressed roughly 4 inches ( basically 2 inches on each slip) longer then stock?

@chicanomexicanoamericano3652 coupe be a possibility I touched on it in this video. Not so much your motors but could be your pump heads mine are about 12 years old and still work but don't build the pressure they need to so that may be a possibility for you. Also I have noticed on this 79 I just finished it had all new parts the passenger side would three wheel perfectly but the driver side acted like it was in a bind I found out after adjusting the upper trailing arms it started to three wheel better on the driver side I just had to play with adjusting the arms then testing it until it worked right
