This is a different colony from the ones I’ve shown before on this channel, unfortunately the two colonies from the merging video didn’t make it.

@fishyy4139

The queen in this video was purchased from www.britishants.com/ If the species is native to your area you can attempt to catch a newly mated queen (lasius flavus fly July - August).

Tell me why you find ants and all these other creatures fascinating? Do you like to observe?
@fishyy4139
@fishyy4139 4 жыл бұрын
It's cool to watch as they develop and observe their behaviour. With a tank like this or an ant colony, you can sit and watch them for hours, and over time you begin to understand their behaviour.

Still fine, just taking care of the eggs. The species usually take around 3 months to go from egg to worker, and the eggs were recently laid as of this video. Hopefully we can see some workers in May/June.

@@fishyy4139 I have my colony for 2 months and im just gonna feed them today. Also I did not know messor barbarus was polyginus.
@jezchantler5331
@jezchantler5331 3 жыл бұрын
@@marsaans Yeah, it's not really common knowledge. I think it's because polygyny is only common in huge colonies or where the queens found a colony together from the start. There are some similar species that exhibit polygyny to a greater extent, such as Messor Structor.
