Lasius Flavus is a polygynous (can have more than a single queen) ant species, also known as the yellow meadow ant. In this video I attempt to merge two colonies (one larger with around 50 workers, and one with around 8) into one, but the larger colony shows aggression when the other ants wander into their territory.
All of the second colony’s workers were removed relatively unharmed after recording this, and placed back with their queen in a test tube setup. I may attempt this experiment again in the future, but for now as will allow both colonies to exist separately.
