That won't be all the time. A lot of people watch to see the carbide, as that is my business. You have to respect that. We do videos to cater for everyone. Don't worry, next video is a fishing one. No carbides were used or injured in that one.

Just got my first lathe 2nd hand which came with standard gauges, to learn I am thinking try carbide tools and see how far I come. You make this seem so easy and I know its not.

Do you have sharpening system yet? If not, you would need one to sharpen the gauges. I have over 40 years experience. You'll get it over time and with practice, using any tool. Happy turning. Welcome to the world of woodturning.

My 406 has stopped working.😢 Opened on/off box, and there is a black wire with a spade attachment hanging loose. Will call Axminster tech tomorrow to find out where it goes. I'm working on the inside of a 250*100 ash bowl, just now, so that's a job for tomorrow. Nice piece love the natural edge.

Glenn, when you were cutting that catch/gouge out, could you have pulled out with the chisel rather than pushing inwards?

I did do a pull cut, a little bit later, but it's better doing a push cut. What didn't help it, was the split in the wood.
