I write software primarily for myself, not for others. Although I decide to share what I write for myself with others for personal use and learning purposes, I have no interest in adopting or promoting genocide-friendly software licenses or giving corporations a license to exploit my work to drive their profits and productivity. A corporate license and EULA will be rolled out next year, and corporations can pay for licenses to use Komorebi in a commercial setting just like they pay for Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop licenses.

the workspace scrolling feature is something I didn't even know I wanted until it was added. I am on a dual monitor setup, but one of them is portrait mode and pretty "static" (discord and music stacked), and I almost never actually want to move something there. This new feature is really cool for me for that reason :) Also love the new bar, the one single thing missing for me is a central widget spot (because I like putting the time there), but people seem to already be on top of that on the discord so the moment that gets released, I will have no reason to use yasb anymore. Also a great bar but beyond overkill for my needs lol

So far the best tiling manager for windows imo. Thank you for your work. I am using ‘alt + p’ to pause the komorebic commands. However, I find that it still doesn’t allow for using similar keyboard combinations like alt+L, alt+K in vscode. Is there a way to enable vscode alt based shortcuts when komorebic is paused?
@LGUG2Z
@LGUG2Z Ай бұрын
Thank you! 'alt + p' is pausing komorebi, but whkd which handles the key bindings is still running in the background - whkd doesn't really have a pause function unfortunately. You can try changing the keybind to `komorebic toggle-pause && Stop-Process -name:whkd` - this will pause komorebi and kill the whkd process, then when you're ready to start whkd again, you can run `komorebic start --whkd` to start it in the background. I'm not 100% sure but I think that if you use AHK to handle your bindings it probably has a way to ignore them for certain applications 🤔
@theconstantchange
@theconstantchange Ай бұрын
@@LGUG2Z Thank you for pointing me to the AHK direction. I got it to work using the Suspend(alt shift P, for me) command in AHK that suspends the keybindings altogether, and allows for seamless use of all keybindings in vscode, and then to toggle the Suspend(or Unsuspend) ahk keybindings, hit the same key combinations as Suspend to renable ahk and thereby enabling komorebi again. Works seamlessly with ahk. 🙂

Is there any way to automatically disable Komorebi when there is an application in fullscreen? (like games for example) I'm using ``alt + p : komorebic toggle-pause`` when opening my games, but it would be nice if Komorebi could detect when there is something in fullscreen 😁 I use two monitors, sometimes I press my hotkeys while playing and end up moving windows from one monitor to another (I use Alt+WASD to move them)

There isn't anything to do this automatically; after pausing, you can try starting your games on another Virtual Desktop because komorebi only operates on the VD that it was started on, and ignores all events it receives when the user is on a different VD

You would still need to install Komorebi, but if you really don't want anything of what komorebi offers, but the top bar, you could configure your monitors to be: "monitors": [ { "workspaces": [ { "name": "I" } ] } ] It would create a single monitor with a single workspace with no tiling enabled, I wouldn't really recommend installing komorebi without actually using it, but hey, it's possible.

Sounds like you're looking for the "container_padding" option which is part of individual workspace configuration: komorebi.lgug2z.com/schema#monitors_items_workspaces_items_container_padding This config option updates on the fly - once you find a value you like, you can set this option which will automatically be applied to all workspaces when you restart komorebi: komorebi.lgug2z.com/schema#default_container_padding

could you please clarify for me, as I'm not entirely sure of the terminology used in the video? you refer to "workspace 1" and "workspace 2" seemingly as if these are the distinct monitors? Yet, the default 7 workspaces in the .json to not appear to follow this naming at all? To try to explain my slight confusion, if I could distinguish between the physical Monitors 1: and 2: (I have a twin monitor setup) and "workspaces" and which, IIRC are seven predefined layouts, currently applied equally across both monitors. Correct? What I am trying to achieve is twofold. Firstly, ensure that Monitor 1: has only a particular workspace on it, by default e.g. VI=Grid. Secondly, that Monitor 2: has a different number workspace on it by default, e.g. I=BSP. After this I can happily follow your guide above and constrain specific apps to both specific 'workspaces' and on specific Monitors:

It's worth reading the "Design" section of the docs here to get a clearer understanding of how monitors and workspaces relate to each other: lgug2z.github.io/komorebi/design.html Workspace names can be whatever you want - for example in my configuration I have 3 workspaces on my primary monitor which are named "personal", "chat" and "editing". I generally recommend having unique workspace names across all monitors. There is a very simple example here of a configuration with two monitors, each with one workspace, both of which have different layouts configured: github.com/LGUG2Z/komorebi/discussions/812#discussioncomment-9355382
