I've always like the idea of a prequal set in the west with the Van der Linde Gang but you play as another new character who dies either during the before the blackwater massacer then you play the epelouge as aurther following the events thereafter to right before the events of red dead 2 would take place. I like this idea cause it ties together with like the structure of the other games and would keep it going. And we'd also get to see how the gang was in their prime and the members that we missed out on seeing that died in the opening of rdr2

Although I respect your takes here, but I feel like I need to point out that aside from fan theories and from how Arthur actually talks about his father, we really don't have much real info on Lyle Morgan, so let me explain how he could potentially make a perfect protagonist for the next RDR game. First of all, we don't know for sure IF Lyle was a cold-blooded murderer like Micah was. Yes, he was lawless, yes he did all sorts of bad stuff, but literally 90% of the West around that time was that way, hence, why it was known as "the WILD West". People had little to no honor, they robbed and killed mercilessly, and pretty much did anything and everything they could just to get by and survive. Arthur isn't fond of his father and doesn't like to remember him or talk about him, that's true, but that could just be because Lyle was most likely never around the house when Arthur was growing up and was a neglectful father who was constantly having run ins with rival gangs and other outlaws, and getting chased by the law; not necessarily because he was abusive, which was also never confirmed. Lyle's story could fit into the wild Wild West's era perfectly, and we could see a side of him that not many people know of; like he could be sort of Clint Eastwood's Blondie aka "Man With No Name" type character from the famous The Good, The Bad and The Ugly spaghetti western. Yes, much of his story could be almost completely low honor, but towards the end, he could get his redemption, in a sense, hence the name; Red Dead Redemption 3. Lyle could also know a young Dutch and Hosea personally as well before they formed the Van der Linde Gang, and may be the whole reason why Dutch and Hosea adopt and take Arthur into their gang in the first place, unbeknownst to Arthur as maybe Lyle's final dying wish; that in case he gets caught and hanged for his crimes, that these two should take his son in as their own. Heck, maybe even Micah Bell Sr. aka Micah's father, who was also pretty notorious himself, and they could be sworn enemies and rivals, kinda like Dutch and Colm were. We all know how backstabbing and traitorous Micah was, so it wouldn't surprise me if his father was the exact same as he was and may also end up being the reason why Lyle gets caught and hanged at the end. The epilogue of this game; honestly speaking, could work very well if players get handed control over a young Arthur in his mid to late teens, learning new things from his new mentors and friends, and fitting into his new gang and home. Players could be able to experience the rise of the Van der Linde gang around this time during its full glory through the eyes of Arthur, as we could meet older gang members like Reverend Swanson, Susan Grimshaw and Uncle joining the gang. We could even help rescue a young kid John and how he joins the gang.
