Charles’s dad would be a great story. Start from escaped slave from Shady Belle who joins the Union Army during the Civil War. Kills a bunch of Lemoyne Raiders during & after the war during Reconstruction. Then is forced to move out West where he becomes a Buffalo Soldier helping fight Native Americans. He becomes conflicted with helping the white men massacre & oppress Native people similar to how they did his people during slavery. He could get captured by the Wapiti, falls in love with Charle’s native mother while as a prisoner, has Charles and then kills a white Army officer to save them thrusting into him becoming an outlaw . He and his family go on the run where he is eventually killed by a lawman posse or Pinkertons forcing his wife and son to return to their people and submit to the Army.

My biggest criticism in Red Dead is that they force certain mechanics that are majorly tedious (Eating, drinking and no fast travel) in order to add realism but the minute you get into a fire fight it's the easiest combat in gaming whilst you can take 100 bullets without dying

Uncle is the only character that has potential for a good game set in his early life in my opinion. I know everyone thinks Uncle is Red Harlow, but R* debunked that. So his backstory, and even his real name, is completely unknown. He’s always telling dramatic stories that no one believes, so it’d be kinda sick if the lazy old drunk actually turned out to be a badass back in the day. That, or we could play as the member of a gang Uncle ran with when he was young, like rdr2. Yeah it’d be reusing the same concept, but It would give us the chance to keep exploring the old west through a completely new gang, while also keeping a familiar face around. Other than that, I think the Van Der Linde gang’s story is finished and should be left where it’s at.

I think we need to know what happened to Sadie Adlers dad. Why is Sadie so tough? Your honor if it's good can have an ending where you end up being a good dad and raising Sadie right. Or you can have low honor, but still very much love your daughter and have a strong relationship with her. Your last moments as a low honor ending could be going out fighting for her and she had to witness you die. Both would explain why she was so tough and it would be set in a time frame closer to the civil war. You could even have a run in with Wyatt Earp. you could either help him or at the end Wyatt Earp guns you down. the options are wide open and the only option I see to stay withing the Dutch Vanderlin gang lore while having a completely separate cast of characters without the ending being predictable.

One thing I've never seen mentioned is that we could play as Micah's brother, who's mentioned to have gone straight in a letter he sent to Micah (You can find it in camp during Shady Belle at the place you go talk to Strauss for the money lending and other sins V i believe?), it implies that Micah ran with his brother for a while, but said brother (I think his name was Amos) feels bad about his outlaw days with micah and tries to be a better man. The story could be like their outlaw days (but that'd be too cliche right?) so i think do something like RDR2 where Amos and Micah split up at the beginning of the game, with a failed heist or micah thinking Amos betrayed him so he decides to run before Micah kills him, and eventually at the end, we can see Amos with his family. Maybe at the end he could get gunned down by the law for running with micah? that's a lot of parallels though.

My first idea was play as Colms brother. We saw the end of the gang, the aftermath of the gang, why not the formation of the gang. You play as the brother when they all still were working together. See a younger Dutch and Hosea, a very young author around the gang camps like Jack, and when the final fights happens, you then take over a 18 to 19 year old author for the prolog.

This is my personal pick for the next RDR game. I’ve commented this in other videos, so some people could have seen this already. Keep in mind I am not a professional story writer, nor do I work for rockstar. This story of mine is really interesting to me, so I want to share it with others. Above my actual story, I think my setting is probably what they should go with. TLDR: Game set at the end of the Civil War, including an ex confederate soldier first protagonist, and a freed slave second protagonist. Game is focused around redemption of character and morality questions. I’ve said this for years the Van Der Linde Gang story should be over. There’s no way games before or after make sense. I think a game set in the last months to the end of the Civil War would be amazing. New cast of characters, possibly a soldier who has to redeem himself. The time period is a perfect balance between civilized cities and completely untamed frontiers. As a history nerd, the political landscape at the time would be so interesting to me. I think the best way to go with it would be to play as an ex confederate soldier, someone who deserted. You’re marked for death by the confederacy, the Union, and confederate loyalists after the war ends. This could set up areas of the map which are more or less hostile. As well as having ample unique antagonists. A fictional Washington DC and Richmond would be amazing. The dichotomy between the two cities would be so cool to see. Maybe the protagonist was forced to take part in a massacre and tries to redeem himself by doing good acts through criminal means. Having to always question his morality and ethicality. You would meet various characters that you run with or do missions for, sort of like RDR1, but this time you’re hunted. I eventually think this character would have to die, like prior games. The question for who the second protagonist should be is up for debate, but I think a freed slave would be the best choice. Maybe freed by our character, freed by himself, or as a result of the war. This ex slave would have to be integral to the story, so having him run with our ex solider would be essential. They would most likely meet in a hostile interaction but realize they need each other. Being on almost complete separate isles of this conflict, but both are wanted men. Mutual respect would go a long way between the two. Eventually, our second protagonist would avenge the first. There’s a lot of places our second character could go, so I will leave that up to you. Maybe a US Marshall like the real life Bass Reeves, a farmer, living off the grid, or living in plain sight in a city. Although our second protagonist should start a family and name his kid after our first character. Our characters would be motivated to be free from conflict, live on their own terms, and secure a future for themselves. I think R* would have to be very careful with this to not be historically inaccurate. They also would need to be extremely careful to not portray the Union as an antagonist. I wouldn’t want this to be a pro confederate, anti union game. Along with that, I don’t think portraying the Union as a bastion of good and the confederacy the epitome of evil would be good either. They also would need to portray battles with respect for the people who fought in them. I recognize that playing as an ex confederate could be controversial, so nuance would be crucial. Our character wouldn’t be a confederate ideologue, probably just a poor solider who was drafted to fight. For these reasons, I am not sure how likely R* would be willing to make this game, but they can pull it off. If done right, this story would be amazing for media in general, not just video games. There’s many more things that I can elaborate on, but this is just a simple outline of the story. People have brought ideas to me ranging from our second protagonist being in an African confederate unit, seeing early lemoyne raiders, Dutch’s dad, and more. Feel free to reply with more suggestions.

We had Red Dead Revolver, which wasn’t related to RDR1 and RDR2. I just think that the RDR story with Dutch and the gang is done, anything more would either be entirely unnecessary or just lack substance. The Red Dead games are a gold mine for rockstar (no pun intended) and I don’t see them stopping Wild West games anytime soon. RDR2 brought the series to new heights, they’re going to want to capitalize on it.

Imo. I think it should be Jack. He chose revenge just like John did. In this franchise our protagonist deal with “actions have consequences” and in the case of John especially revenge really was a fool game. So I would be completely open picking up right where we left off in 1914 with Jack and tell the story of him going on the run for being suspected of killing Edgar Ross. 1 last old west story. World War I is a non-issue. Rdr1 ends in 1914 but America doesn’t join the war until April 1917. But regardless the entire war from start to finish was never once fought on American soil. So you can easily just leave the war as something that’s only mentioned in newspapers or by npc’s.

I like it ending with that more than that being a beginning. The old West Dies, Jack finished the story for the gang and John. Times are changed at that point not changing. If you think about it, the end of RDR1 is like leading into the age of GTA. Cars are invented at that point. So to me 1880-1899 has to be the timeframe. If you set it like 5-6 years before RDR2 maybe there is a perfect Easter egg for your character to meet a Pregnant Woman who mentions she likes the name "Jack".

My proposition for Red Dead 3: We get to play as either Dutch's father or someone close to him. All we know about Dutch's father is that he died in the Civil War, which means the way he dies and the timing of his death can be left to creative decision. The great thing about Dutch's is that he doesn't even yet have a name, and if he were a cowboy, it would have been just before the "prime" of cowboys. My idea is that it can take inspiration from both games. He would be a family man to Dutch and Greta, while also being on the run from the government. Perhaps he was the leader of his gang, a charming one similar to Dutch, however his gang is starting to flourish because the golden age for the cowboy is coming up. All of a sudden the government shows up like the pinkertons in rdr2 and tell him that he is drafted. His response is killing the government men however one escapes and informs his superiors starting this great chase like Dutch and the Pinkertons in Rdr2. The chase then causes many members (who can be literally anyone because there's no real information from this period) to die and it makes Dutch's father realize he must sacrifice himself and surrender to the government to join the army and fight in the Civil War for whichever side he's on (that information is up for creative decision because all we know is he at some point lived in Philadelphia). He could even have a cinematic death similar to Arthur as the specifics aren't yet known. We could also have an epilogue using this format where we play as Dutch and it can show the roots of the Van der Linde game like him meeting Arthur and Hosea and Grimshaw. I know it's complex but that's just my general idea for a Red Dead Redemption III that doesn't recycle a bunch of known characters and introduces a fresh time period

The problem with making a RDR3 is that there’s nothing more to do with the Dutch Van Der Linde gang and its members, but making the third installment not about them will turn everyone off because it’s all anyone knows. Playing a game that you know has the same name as the first 2 means you’re only there because of them, so a game that has nothing or very little to do with the first game will turn all the original fans away, and being a third installment will mean no new players will be so willing to come. I think it’s best to end the series with RDR2, there’s just nothing else to do with it. It’s not a GTA series.

And you ride in to this big western town in the desert and the native you play as discovers the white civilisation, and of the way the whites act. And then after the brawl you see that the person who won the fight was Arthur in his wildest days when he was young and cocky. I think rockstar could build the best video game to ever hit the market and base the games story on the life of Ulysses S Grant, closely following the events in the book Ulysses S Grant and a docuseries on grants life. If you are well educated on Grant you know his life fits very well in several redemption arcs. Battle alcoholism, his issues financially, his father, war and morality with his men and not to mention he freed a slave and was the general that ultimately made Abraham Lincoln’s goal of freeing the slaves happen. Grant will be played as the main character on a 3 person wheel (like GTA) the other 2 people could be based on Sherman and Gideon Welles. This allows you to branch off into different theatres and story lines during the civil war. I believe the main focus should be on Grant while the other two characters help clear up the story/support the main character Sherman’s army and Welles iron clad navy. I think another great idea (if possible I know they barley developed rdr2 properly as seen in all the abandoned towns) is if under these three main wheel characters you can play under them as another character for example under grant I can play as a soldier in the front lines or as Welles I play as a player on a iron clad ship or under Sherman I play as a sharpshooter. There is tons of potential on making another beautiful game focusing on the east coast of America through these different battles and towns. A example of this is the battle of the Forrest where before the battle starts the Forrest and nature is present but as time goes on from battle the trees get mangled and catch ablaze changing the environment. I think this allows more opportunity at customization where you have different classes of characters to play as giving you the ability to acquire and customize things for said character. For example, Grant was seen as the best horseman of the time so giving him Calvary like customization would be fun granting him the ability to ride your horse from a side position to keep yourself protected but other players don’t have this ability. Kind of like how GTA has separate abilities. Sherman could be a Trevor rage/typical rdr deadshot ability and Welles maybe you can call in cannon fire from iron class if your near a river you occupy during the story. This is just a history nerds video game creation dream but think this could be the direction the next read dead redemption can go since they basically completed the story line of 1-2. I think this one would not be called 3 instead call it civil war or something for the simple fact of respect 1-2 as its own separate story. It would be cool to hear or find Easter eggs of Dutch and some of the gang in this game.

I think a Lyle Morgan game should be heavily considered, or at least someone who ran with him in a gang or something. Lyle could’ve been a terrible man at first, beating or abusing his child at least mentally, doing bad things, but as he sees his grow and he realizes all the bad he’s done then he finally does something good which maybe saves Arthur, which is why he keeps his hat, and it leads to Lyle being executed. Then maybe we play as Arthur. We have to consider that when thinking about a story as well, because so far both games you’ve played as a new character at the end. But also playing as a member of the gang is a good way of getting close, but not too close to Arthur and his father and seeing those bad things. The game be about that person seeing Lyle die, realizing all their bad they’ve done together or something. And it would work well with letting us play as Arthur at the end, which could also time jump to when he’s a young adult and just falling in with Dutch and Hosea. And now we have the origin story of the gang. Just like we got the origin story of John Marston, and Beechers hope.

Edit: I wrote this as the video played and before he mentioned it. 😂 Here’s a random plot I just came up with: RDR3 is from the perspective of a Native American. The plot centers around the character trying to provide for his family/tribe (camp), and the struggles of it. The struggles could be plentiful. From loss of family to illness/violence. Perhaps the leader of the tribe dies and you are unexpectedly required to lead it. Or the tribe leader starts losing their way. Perhaps conflicts of outlaws and other tribes waging war on your territory for their own gain. That could force a whole slew of story changing decisions. Deciding which groups to fight and/or tolerate and unite with. Can also introduce a trading system for your camps/allies. Really immersing the concept of living off the land and the logistical challenges of survival. And it fits the theme of Wild West dying/modernization sort of deal. One of the biggest realities in American history was the amount manipulating between the government and other tribes vying for power and territory.

I 100% agree. It should be treated as a more historical version of GTA. Every GTA mainline game is a completely different story with different characters in different places.

Rockstar should make a more modernized game where you can play as a gangster. It’d be cool to have multiple main characters too like one would be an ex bank robber who has a family and gets back into the life of robbing and maybe another main character that’s crazy or something we could call him Trevor or something idk I think that would be cool

I like some of the ideas you don't.... So I think a Sadie game could work - Charles definitely not as a main character at least You could go two different ways one as a more standalone story - Sadie leaves for South America working as a bounty hunter but in the epilogue John does question Sadie's morality/the morality of work as a bounty hunter and Sadie kinda brushes it off not wanting to think about it, that could be an element explored with Sadie starting as a brutal bounty hunter and potentially getting softer throughout the game Her arc with her husband would be over but her past could still be explored with you playing as someone who feels like they've lost their reason for living yet is still alive. Or you could go the way more fanservicey route of a game at the same time as Red Dead 1, with the operation to end the Van Der Linde gang also being done against the other main fighters Sadie and Charles with them running from the law and maybe fleeing their own countries and meeting up for strength in numbers, perhaps you hear about the events of Red Dead 1 - though I much prefer option 1 I think this could work Then for the Callender game there are a lot of characters we've only vaguely seen mentioned that could be much more fleshed out - you're totally right there's not enough for a game on the scale of Red Dead 2 but for a smaller scale game I think it could work.

I think you should play as mac or davey Callander because since you know there gonna die at the end of the game it would be hard to get attached to them like you do with Arthur and John so the story would have to go above and beyond to make that happen

I still really like the idea of RDR3 continuing the story of Jack as becomes a writer while trying to finally leave his old life behind and with the ending having him break the cycle where instead of dying like Arthur and John he’s the one that gets out completely and lives the rest of his life in peace. I definitely don’t think it should be a WW1 or Mafia game cause it goes against the themes and setting of the series imo.

All I’m saying is if you watch all the cutscenes throughout the credits, it starts with the officers investigating Micah’s death, and slowly progresses with them talking to different people throughout the rdr2 story and ends with the officers overlooking John’s ranch. Idk if it’ll be the next game or farther down the road but I feel like one of their next games to be a follow up with John growing a family

This might be off-topic, but the fact that this might actually fit well with the western theme but when are people going to make a story that doesn’t have so much detail and it’s not that deep or it’s not so much story, just a story where you’re an outlaw especially in a big group, you rob a few places get involved with the law and bounty hunt, but there isn’t too much detail or romance or anything, and then, after would be an open world and just has better mechanics snd freedom, but the story could be similar to Rango the movie where it doesn’t have so much connection.

As much as I would love more of Arthur Morgan. The only thing that would make sense to me would be an RDR2 DLC for what happened in Blackwater. If they wanted to make another game about these same people, they wouldn't have given a conclusion to so many characters. I think they would have to get all new characters in the same time period.
