I started on a plant- based (and regular exercise) diet in my early 20s (now I'm into my 70s.) The only med I take is a nasal spray prn for allergies. I've worked with my fellow Filipinos many of whom had diabetes, hypertension, gout, etc. related to a diet based on too much meat, salt, and with minimal vegetables. Thank you for educating and being an inspiration to our community.🍓🍒🥬🫑🥑

This is a completely mistaken explanation of the cause of diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is caused by the excessive consumption of carbohydrates, not saturated fat. I hope nobody listens to this and adopts a diet that will eventually make them diabetic. There should be a health warning on this video ....

Type 2 diabetics reverse their conditions when they go on keto or carnivore diet. Those who are obese diabetics also lose weight, their blood pressure becomes normal and symptoms from autoimmune conditions they have go away. Meat and saturated fat are good for the human body. the healthiest people are those who do not eat grains or seeds or nuts or legumes or leaves or any plants which are high in anti nutrients, carcinogenic toxins, oxalates and lectins. More and more doctors and other health professionals are becoming aware and learning from research that red fatty meat, especially from grass fed ruminants, is the healthiest anyone can eat and thrive on. All meats from ruminant animals which are not fed grains or soy are extremely healthy for the human body and the healthiest people are those who are lean with good muscle mass from eating healthy meat and who have higher LDL than the numbers invented by Big Pharma after it invented statins. Big Pharma artificially lowered the then normal numbers for LDL so that doctors would prescribe statins to more people. Those with the lowest LDL are the most likely to get heart disease and stroke and die younger than those who are healthy and have highter LDL. Doctors and other people have been fed lies about cholesterol and saturated fat and no wonder that every other person alive can expect to get cancer and diseases, including coronary heart disease, which have become common since the artificial modern diet was forcefully introduced, were unheard of before then.

I stooped in the middle, with the fat explanation. It is carbs, what make diabetes. I eat fat now and I cut carbs, and my glucose is fine now. Many seniors now do not have a enough money to buy healthy food and they are eating too much carbs - it is cheaper. That's big problem!

Sorry girl, I have to say that you are ignorant of human metabolism. Fat that we eat do NOT become fat in your body. Carbs generate high insulin levels that increase body fat.

I am 80 years old, 5 feet 3 inches tall and 126 lbs. Every 6 months l take my blood test. My doctor said l do not have diabetes.I never drink any soft drink or soda. My snack are fruits.

When I was 75, a "Dr." gave me 2 bottles of Cipro for a urinay infection. Three days I hopped on a torn legiment back to the "Dr.", who did a culture and called 2 days later to say, oh you just have a bad infection and sending another bottle of Cipro. Nothing about a Black Box warning. Now, with Diabetes, and horrible nerve damage in, hands, arms, feet, and legs. Talked to two lawyers trying to sue Bayer. First said , I was too old to prove the Cipro was the reason for problems. Second lawyer said. it had to real percription. UGH!

Good question. To my knowledge and clinical experience working with type 2 diabetes patients, I have not had success with exercise alone. It takes much more calories to burn the fat, which can be an intense physical activity for a prolonged period. Cutting the fat intake from the source (diet) is still the least you can do to make the most of the fats inside the cell to go away. Hope this helps.

I grew up on chicken, eggs, fish, pork, sausages, turkey, and all kinds of fat products. I'm 71 now with all kinds of physical problems. I sure hope eliminating animal products will help me.

It is nice to see more "healthcare" providers jumping on this band wagon. I suppose the regulating boards are finally done trying to silence everyone over this now? Let's see how far they go with this. Will they tell the truth, or just shift the peasants towards big pharma, which perpetuates the problem.

The healthcare system is broken. Chronic diseases are responsible for seven out of 10 deaths in the U.S., which are 70-80% preventable, treatable, and potentially reversible with diet and lifestyle. Each year in the U.S., roughly 300 - 400 physicians die by suicide, primarily due to burnout from loss of autonomy (www.acep.org/life-as-a-physician/wellness/wellness/wellness-week-articles/physician-suicide). Nobody is coming to save us. Still, together we can start somewhere we know we can make a difference inch by inch, day by day, one life at a time. Hopefully, our voices will be loud enough for others to hear, join, and rally for CHANGE.
