This is so true! I can’t tell you how many doors that exact thing has opened for me! I’m now a part of a music venues house band in Houston!!!!! I try not to compare myself to other saxophonists as I start to sound like them and not myself, but I don’t feel I’m at par with all these pro players. Yet, I’m the guy that always gets the call. ALSO reliability is very important!!!! I am always early to everything (as most band people are lol), always over prepared, and am always open to constructive criticism (because let’s face it a LOT of us are in a group or group setting where we aren’t necessarily the main feature, so we have to accommodate to THEIR sound). I know we can be prideful sometimes but as long as we remember that, when the time comes for us to BE the feature, the mates will do the same for you. I really enjoy yalls content like this!!!!! Thank you!!!!!

hey, are you playing the new HR DV or the Custom Dark? My guess is the custom dark, but whatever it is gosh do you have a luscious beautiful warm sound that I ohhh so envy
@McGillMusicSaxSchool2 күн бұрын
Actually I think it is the DVHR - I really like the little extra "brightness" than the Custom Dark (though that's also a lovely piece that I play often). Thanks for watching.

I bought a Yamaha WX-7 back in 1987. The sales guy at music store told me that I wouldn't need a real sax anymore, the WX-7 would replace it. Thankfully he was really really wrong. However I did gig with it for a while, but it's a lot of gear to lug around, along with the saxes. But now so many years later I'm looking into an electronic wind instrument once more and zeroing in on the AE-20 as a silent practice instrument and maybe once again a performing wind synth. This was a very informative video. Thank you Nigel.

I still have fond memories of the WX-7! Thanks for watching.

Kenny G is the reason I decided to learn to play the soprano sax. I started the flute back in 4th grade in the 60's, learned the bassoon in high school and JC, self-taught the bagpipes in the early 80's, and got my first sop sax in the early 2000's.

Can you please please make video about how to record your saxophone , EQ , FX and plug inns Many saxophone players act like they don't use effects but they all do specially Smooth jazz and funk We all know Sanborn , Rangel, Andy they all use tons of effects but it's all kept secret 😢

Have you tried any of the Thomann branded saxes ? I heard the upper ranges are made by the same manufacturer as p mauriat? I really enjoy the color ways on the Thomanns. Black and gold , silver and gold etc.

That's intersting - I haven't tried any of those yet.
kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYe6gXuNitJnpsk The neck tenon on my new Selmer Supreme Tenor saxophone was defectively welded by the Selmer factory. The collar was improperly soldered and came completely loose. To have this repaired would damage the finish and result in severe cosmetic damage. Selmer has been aware of this defect since 10/24 and I’ve had zero response from them. No outreach; no apology; no concern for my ability to practice, rehearse, or perform. Update 11/7--Selmer is replacing the horn but it will take at least two weeks for the new horn to arrive. Still no apology for the inconvenience cased for a performing musician. Update 11/16--Still no replacement horn. Selmer has refused to expedite resolution and continues to seem unconcerned with their warranty responsibility.
