@@sonofgod6389 If you have a basic understanding of maneuvering a truck, and show you’re willing and able to learn you’ll be just fine. I personally didn’t find it difficult, but about half of every orientation class fails. Mostly due to drug tests or having a bad attitude, from what I’ve seen.

@@JJason406 no I don’t think I’ve talked about it in a video. But the main reason I left was because I didn’t like the work schedule. It was basically on call 24/7 unless I was on hometime

For the sign on bonus, did you have to ask about that? Have you spoken to any regional guys, I know they don't drive as much, but they tarp/ secure more loads from what I have been reading. Im in FL so I was considering the East Coast Regional, thanks man. And those CRKT Knives are sweet. Have the one with the seat belt cutter and wind shield point, as well as the mini pocket.

Any tips on getting a route west? I’ve been with Melton for two months now, and I can’t get any loads past the Midwest. All my classmates have gone west at least once.

@@mattdarwin6497 it’s kind of just up to luck unfortunately. Most of our freight is on the eastern half of the US. But if you really wanna go that way you could request one or two days of hometime somewhere on the west coast. Then they have to send you over there lol

Awesome man. Been following you for a while, I am looking to join Melton here. When you are waiting for loads like you were at the shipper, how does load time and securing time in with your 10 for the day? How do you know how to secure each load esp with something you haven't had before? And final question, when it comes to weather, when do you and how do you go about deciding to drive or not? Thanks man. Gotta get some water shoes for the unexpected fishing excursions man lol. Nice.

@@Linknelson yeah I’ll have to add water shoes to my trail bag lol. As far as HOS for the day, your clock will stop counting down after 2hrs of off duty. So I stayed off duty the entire wait time at the shipper, until I started securing. That way I still had hours available to drive even past the regular 14hr work day, it’s called split logging. For securement on this particular load, melton has a securement handbook, and video to refer to because it can be especially tricky. And for the rain, it’s really up to feel and intuition. I didn’t feel confident driving in that rain so I stopped as soon as I could, especially considering I didn’t need to drive more to be on time

@ianelbert yes, it goes 24 miles away from town, and like 40+ miles into town and past. There's an outdoor volleyball & bar near town right off the trail. I road over and played volleyball one day while doing a 34.

How long do you do each Asset Inspection on Truck and Trailer?

@@monteske6687 I just log my post trip 10-15 mins, and mark the asset inspection for both as complete right before I go off duty. I don’t wait any amount of time for them, I just mark down that I did them basically. And I’ve had a few inspections by DOT and they said my logs were good. I think they just wanna see that you actually logged it in some capacity. But results may vary lol

TMC driver here brother. Get that TWIC card. You can enter ports instantly, waiting for the escorts sometimes takes forever. It’s super easy to get and comes in the mail pretty quickly. Also we use the same tablet for our ELD it’s a big upgrade from the older version and brother we get loads no matter what. Whenever we submit our empty we get another one within 15 minutes even in the middle of winter.
