I just got my 8550 and the rear vertical feeder will not feed paper. The front 8.5 x 11 prints and feeds perfectly. Just the rear feed. It isn't a jam just paper doesn't go down into the printer. I am using hippo sublimation ink and 11 x 17 sublimation paper. Any idea what is going on? Thanks.

Well done for sticking it out. I did consider this printer but tbh for my needs way to big and more than my budget would allow but still doesn't stop me wanting it, although I would find space if pushed I opted for a smaller Canon Megatank and for my needs does an excellent job but I do find I sometimes I want to print larger than A4 but just scall back my project. Paper and card stock as a paper crafter is a nightmare I notice all too often that what is marked as xxx gsm feels thinner although a little denser which is not useful when you want a thicker card. Perhaps that's why the Epson printer paper doesn't show roller marks because it is denser therefore no give in the paper to leave the marks unlike thicker paper of the same weight (gsm) will imprint/emboss/deboss etc. I have been using PPD photo paper with excellent results and it has a plain back, they also do packs of greeting card blanks with envelopes.

The 8550 is a great printer. Giving the ink enough time to dry in the printing process can help to avoid rollermarks. 1: thick paper on (driver/printer) 2: one way printing (two way printing off (driver) 3: printing silent (driver/printer) The prints will take longer, but its worth it. Thank you for showing us your experience.

Giving the ink enough time to dry in the printing process can help to avoid roller marks .. how does this work ? the print has already been printed and the roller marks are there this has nothing to do with drying times , the marks don't disappear once completely dry , thick paper setting or back slot makes no difference with the paper i used , some papers just don't work well on some printers , the only solution is use OEM paper or find a third party brand that will work without issues.

@@Pat-1000You're absolutely right that the ET-8550 paper wise can be hit or miss. My own experiences with the slow paper printing process is good - found the advice on a sublimation channel showing how a set of rollers inside the printer, pick up the paper just after ink is applied, slowing down (one way/silent) gives a small drying window to make the ink less prone to roller marks. ET-8550 is punching above it's weight, and knowing all the variables to get there is why printing is fun.

Please don't swear when i have a mouth full of drink..... Fuck it..... Splosh tea everywhere... We've changed our products from normal cards, over to seeded cards, they're about the same thickness as that card.. However, once you've finished with it, you tear it all up, soak it in water and then plant it in your garden and it has seeds mixed in with the paper.. We put them through the top feeder of the ET-8550 with no problems... We've also done our own seeded calenders... Was thanks to you that we got that printer, and we've not looked back!!

Really good video. Great to see you bringing your personality to a topic that could less interesting. I really enjoyed watching :) We’ve always found that glossy paper is thinner than the equivalent gsm Matt or uncoated paper/card, but agree it’s super confusing. We print greeting cards for a lot less than £1.18 per card. Give me a shout if you want me to send you some samples 😊

Have you installed Epson Media Installer on your PC? This software allows you to adjust the thickness of your paper. My Epson P900 prints on 310 gsm Hahnemuhle Matt Fine Art Photo Rag Bright White paper just fine with no roller marks... There are settings that you can edit the thickness of the paper in it. Also on printer Menu/General Settings/Printer Settings/Thick Paper. This is default to of for some bizarre reason. Also if you power down the printer it defaults back to thick paper...off!

The gms will relate to the paper density not the thickness same as 1Kg of sugar vs 1Kg of flour. Even though it’s thinner than you expected it may be stable enough to make greetings cards. Epson heavy weight Matt is in my opinion a good paper and being Matt it can be viewed from any angle. But I don’t make cards.

That really is a hassle to work with, considering your current set-up and location. And that thin paper wouldn't do at all. I agree, it's not worth it. That being said, 50p is about 66¢ USA. 50p for a greeting card is what they're asking in your neighborhood? I'm not sure about anywhere else, but I'm seeing prices like $4.50 (or £3.43) in places like Walmart around here. That's for those kinda-sorta (but not really) funny cards, with cartoon art and humorous greetings. For the pretty ones, with no caption...well, first off, there aren't may of them. Like, only one or two choices out of hundreds of cards up and down the aisle, and even then, they have stock photos, not actual art. Nothing against photography, but that's the reality of the thing here. Those sometimes have very fancy paper, and cost even more than the "funny" kind. So, £3.50 for one of your cards would not be all that excessive, I don't think. And £4.50 wouldn't be outrageous in the least for a piece of original art. Anyway, this was quite a fun journey, and I'm sure it helped some folks who are looking at new printers. Thanks!

❤ well that cheered me up after a day in the rain. About half way through, I did have concerns that you were going over the edge into madness, but thankfully, you held it together. Well done. 9 I still think there's something wrong with a £600+ printer that seems to leave roller marks on so many people's paper. On a £200 printer with a thick fine art paper, fair enough.....but on a printer in this price bracket, I think it should cope with papers that serious enthusiasts/ professionals are likely to use. As always, you brought a ray of sunshine into my ki5fyen as I cook tea. Cheers

8550 really seems to have issues with a lot of glossy papers. I used the same weight glossy and matte papers (both by red river papers), and the glossy always had roller marks, while the matte always crisp and clean. Needless to say, most of my cards are matte.

I have no issues with any of the glossy papers used so far , a3+ @ 300gsm going through the Rear paper feed OR the back SLOT is leaving roller marks right across the the printed surface , I genuinely cannot blame the printer ( yet ) because i bought paper Brilliant Museum SilverGloss White A3+ x 25 sheets 300g/m² .... They don't supply any ICC profiles for the ET8550 For the given paper , so this error in paper choice was my own fault because i did not do my own research before buying the paper like we all should be doing as a basic rule.

I've heard people in the past say how a video they made went viral, and it nearly destroyed their channel. I never understood why until now, so thank you for that. I agree with the comment that you should maybe think about putting up that Epson paper video. No this, isn't an Epson channel, but in all the previous ones, you were talking about real issues you were having with a tool you need for your business, and how you went about solving them (or not). It's apparently helped a lot of people. I don't have an Epson printer, and I doubt I'll ever need to buy one, but I watched those videos anyway. I remember that you kept dismissing your knowledge, and your problem-solving capabilities throughout them, yet people dealing with the same issues found the videos to be helpful. As an artist and a small business person who actually uses that printer, your views on it matter. They have value to people. This may not be the Epson channel, but it is an artist's and small business owner's channel. In my opinion, you absolutely should be talking about the tools you use to make your art and products. People want to know how you use them, and how you've gotten them to work when they're being stubborn. Other artists want to know about your paints, your brushes, the canvases you prefer, and why. They want to know about the software you use. They want to know how you set up your tables at the market. How did you set up your website, and make it so you can accept payments? They want to know how you greet prospective buyers when they walk up to chat. I'm TERRIBLE at speaking to strangers. How do you go about doing it? These are all problems you've faced, and solved, to one degree or another. This isn't to say that cozy afternoon chats, or exciting excursions in the woods aren't enjoyable too, because they are. I guess I'm just saying that you can embrace your "accidental" success the with printer videos, because they're as much about who you are as any of the other videos. Still, I also agree with another comment, advising you NOT to chase the algorithm. We all watch KZbin for knowledge, entertainment, and even company, but Google doesn't see KZbin as anything other than an advertising platform. They don't care about you, or us, unless what we're doing with KZbin supports their current and ever-changing business models and Quarterly goals. That's got nothing to do with artistry, small business, or community -- three things you stand for.

I stopped thinking about making money on KZbin since 2018. I had a channel and made some money, but I didn’t like that I made so little money, and I had to work daily for low earnings. The main reason is because they made an update of "fresh content" back then. When I read it, I figured this platform isn’t for me anymore. People can make a lot of videos, but as for me, after a lot of work, I can only make one video a week. It’s not worth spending four days a week to write my script, create the video, and edit it, only to get 200 to 800 views in the end. I considered it a failure, especially when most people started making all kinds of nonsense and getting 10k views or more back then. So, I will never focus on KZbin for earning; it’s not my place, but I will use it for some other things. And that update to force people to have followers and watch time made it so difficult for people who try to create valuable or good quality content, while people who made simple and easy videos with clickbait titles could get views easier. Having values and not making a plan will lead to failure. Enjoy, but getting subs now is not easy at all with all those people making videos, especially now. use youtube to promote your business that's all you can do

It seems you feel like you are in a pickle but I don't think you are. You shared your experience with a new product that does align with what you do because you use that Epson Printer for your work correct? What I think you don't do is post enough I really enjoy your videos but you don't post very often and of course you shouldn't post if you don't want to or don't have time. Social Media is a bioche to put it mildly to do it well means you have to do a lot of it and who wants to do that not me but spending hours planning out your videos what your video will be about and what day to schedule it well it's time consuming. Do what you want truly but you could video all of that stuff you are "busy" doing and people lile me who are nosey will watch.

Shouldn't regret ^that^ video, because it helped a lot of people. Also, some of us then became intrigued by the life of a creative person, and seeing the struggles it takes to make a living. Hopefully, most of us are in this for long hall. We don't want daily "clickbait " videos.... but yes it would be nice for slightly more frequent update, chats, rants, stories. Best wishes,

I did come across you because of your Epson printer video as I was considering it but I stuck around as I love the way you come across you are as you are and you shouldn't have to change like the videos you take when on a walk as sometimes seeing something through somebody's artistic eye is like looking at something totally new even though you see it every day. I know other creators have struggles with the KZbin algorithms so you are not alone and I understand that you don't want to just talk about the printer as it is just a tool you use to do your work perhaps some videos on how you create your amazing art? Keep up the good work xx
