This really hit me; I needed to hear this. I am familiar with the "accept the things I cannot change," but can I just say (and I bet you'd agree) it is 100x harder to practice when it comes to your child. Before I even saw your video, I have been realizing that I am making myself crazy lately trying to control what can't be controlled. Yet it's a very fine line when it's your child, and the worry is so much more intense. 🙏

Gen X here from the Northeast: I remember marching in my junior high school band days, and my mother slathering vaseline on my face to "cut the wind" while we marched during the middle of winter 🤣I thought nothing of marching in freezing cold while playing my lil flute with my gloves on. This would be considered child abuse now😂

Oh man, the Vaseline was a real thing! 😜 In your right definitely child-abuse now 😂

Thank you for posting. I used to believe that thinking our parents did the best they could was the healthiest way to approach my relationship with my mother. But as I get older, I believe adults who are toxic, narcissistic, etc make a conscious choice to be that way. My mom (as an example) knew EXACTLY what she was doing when she pushed everyone away from her, because she also knew when to switch up and act like she had sense when it benefited her. But I totally believe there are so many things that we can't fix and need to move on. I'm going through that now in my living situation--I have to accept I can't MAKE folks act like decent human beings. All i can do is somehow the universe will just help remove me from this. And i loved your poem! 💗
