Just based on the title…. This is another massive failure. There is nothing about the core franchise that is political. Nobody, on either side of the fence should be injecting this stuff into franchises that have nothing do to with it. It’s sad and pathetic.

Well Nocturne is in my eyes inferior to the previous tv show, they should have kept the original writer. We have not even finished watching it as it's so much worse, not sure why Netflix changed the writer considering how good it was just to deliver something so mediocre.

They can be people you know for example, or better yet, you can just have empathy, and be able to put yourself in their shoes, all of them, and be all of them. Don't insert yourself into the story, don't make a character become you. Instead, become your characters and see the world through their eyes. That's the way to write a good character: knowing them and being empathetic enough to put yourself in their place. If you use yourself as a character to ground all of them, they all of their PoVs will be tainted, they will be YOUR PoV, not theirs.

While the VA who plays Frieren herself seems talented, this role was not for her. And she isn't the only mistake in casting, so from the get go this can't be a good product. Add a subpar voice direction, some the usual liberties localizers take because they feel entitled to someone else's work plus the real limitations localizing and dubbing have (know them first hand, I'm a translator myself), and you end up with a "just decent" product. It doesn't matter if it's anime, a Hollywood movie, a Korean drama or a Telenovela, if you want it to be as good as possible, don't watch a dub, and pray (or better yet, search for) good subtitles.

I first watched the movie, and only then started reading the novels. Honestly, I’ve got to say- the movie is just a million times better, even if Demon Deathchase certainly isn’t bad in my opinion. Nonetheless, the sexual violence against just dragged down my enjoyment of the novel, as well as that instead of the lovable and cool Marcus brothers, we have the sexually aggressive, backstabbing and just overall douchy versions which to me (after having already watched the movie) felt like major downgrades in comparisons.

I watched Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust first (two years ago), then found out about this movie, and both of the movies really got me interested into the franchise as a whole, because neither really explicitly state too much about the lore. So, I got to reading the book and I’m currently onto Demon Deathchase, on which Bloodlust is based on (kinda loosely). The books are great in world and character building, but what always really irks me is the blatant and overly explicit displays of sexual violence against women who in most cases are under 18 years old in really horrific ways. I’d definitely recommend anyone who’s interested to check out the books, but only if you can stomach that and if such elements don’t put you off the story, because these stories are VERY graphic at times.

I had no idea it deviated from the source material so much. I did enjoy the second season’s action and was caught off guard with it ending after 2 seasons. I did feel the first season was slow and didn’t notice the inconsistencies because I watched each season as it came out. Once lol. Seems like they made a weird move and hopefully correct with the next series/season 🤘🏽

louis 14 was actually not a bad king the vesus errupted while he was king so all of europe was suffering under it the revelution didnt help it made thing just worse for everyone also the jacko black just killed anyone who didnt want to join them regardless of if they where part of nobility or not they even burned down and killed a whole monestry with innocent woman in it and after fighting the monarchy they just ended up in an even more totalitarian state with napoleon who waged war against all of euopre. so now the french revolution isnt a good alegory for fighting against oppresion if anything its a cautiionary tail to how not to fight oppresion

I think season 2 did a great job closing up some of the plot holes from season 1. Looking back, it was strange that the main cast went to the Abbey to destroy the Machine… when the Night Creatures were not much of a pressing issues compared to Erszbet blocking out the Sun for all her vampires… I loved how Season 2 expanded on the universe like the original series did with the Infinite Corridor. Showing us realms of different Gods and explaining their interactions with each other and Earth. And those ending fight scenes were blowing my mind!!! I can’t wait for season 3!!

When you started breaking down the feeling of how you interact with your friends. That hit me much harder than I expected. When I was teenager, everyone I was close with was a drug addict like me. I'm 10+ years sober now, but none of them are alive today. My best friend knows that I'd rather shut down and never say anything when I'm hurting because I don't get close. Every time I do I feel like people are close, I'm disappointed or hurt. So I close the doors a little bit more. I talk a lot about how I am not the same person online as I am offline because I can shut off my computer at any time. I can't do that in person, so I avoid it. Just listening to that from you hit me so hard in my heart. In a way I hate you for it because it was like hearing my faults brought to the surface and examined. In truth, it's good to know that I am not the only person who processes like this. Thank you Mike for opening up about this and giving me an opportunity to recognize some things about myself and my own life.

Another important thingy in the heroes journey is the "Want". The want is kinda a false belief for the hero to achieve his dream or goal. Of course the hero fails to achieve his goal with his want, thus he needs to sacrifice it. This sacrifice turns the want into a need: not what the hero wants, but what he needs. And in doing what he needs to do, he usually achieves his goal/dream. Interestingly the villain most of the time has the same want as the hero, but he never sacrifices it, thus never discovering his need and thus fails to achieve his goals (is defeated in the end) All of this is very noticable in the first seasons of the first Castlevania series.

I have been waiting to watch this, because I didn't know what the expect. Trigun isn't just my favorite classic anime, but favorite anime of all time because I relate to vash just like you do. And your video did such justice to the character and his journey. This was a wonderful video and you are awesome.

Very late, but I am glad that you came around to Nocturne, Mike, especially with pointing out that Nocturne felt split in half-I feel that way about the first Castlevania anime’s first two seasons. But with that said, much like its predecessor, Nocturne season 2 added so much to its series that there’s WAY too much to talk about in just one video. Even if this one doesn’t do insane numbers, I hope you guys find the time, passion, and energy to do another! Annette has so much going on with her and Richter’s arc is particularly interesting in contrast to Trevor.
