Ive been thinking of putting a 7.3 powerstroke in my 78 bronco as well was it a lot of modifications to get it done like welding to stiff up the frame?

This is almost my dream truck. I’d swap the trans to a NV5600, figure out a way to run dual fuel tanks like on old school trucks, and maybe do a custom interior.

I have Power King Extra Tractions on our CJ8 which is my winter daily driver and snow plow truck to keep our road clear. They have been fantastic tires except for the noise level (I don’t mind it but the Mrs. does.

Do you know what that Dana 44 came out of? I have a 76 I wanting to use the full drive train out of a 91 w250 4x4 Cummins truck but need a passenger side drop front axle like you did to make it work. Do you know if I can use the factory dodge axle?
@curtismcclellan32385 ай бұрын
Hey man I love the truck. So I have a 76 highboy and a 1991 reg cab long bed dodge truck with a 5 speed and 5.9 Cummins in it. I like how you used all the dodge running gear. My plan is to do the same but the front axle on the ford being a drivers drop has been holding me up. What Chevy axle did you use so I can get the same thing to make my set up work? Was the steering compatible with the Chevy axle? It sounds like you used the dodge Dana 70 as well in the swap? Awesome truck please point me in the right direction on the front axle. Thank you!

They're part of the 335 series, with the Clevland (no separate timing case, funky thermostat that diverts coolant through the heads) The bell pattern is the same because when Ford introduced the 429/460 in 1968 there was only the C6 with that pattern that would put up with the torque.

Just a small correction the 351M/400 are 335 series not 385 series like the 429/460. The 400/351M are basically a tall deck Cleveland that uses the big block bell housing rather than a small block. The 400 is a great engine though. My cousin had one that was mildly built with just a cam and intake in a highboy thing got 18mpg with a 4speed,4.10 gears and a 2 barrel carb. Thing could scoot pretty damn good

Dang Mickey's Hot Tub is a tough one! Just not enough weight over the front axles to get any traction on the way out of it. What are you running for an engine/transmission?

Highboy have a step as soon as you open the door. Everyone calls a regular ford a highboy just because its sits high that doesn't make it one. It makes ut a lifted ford. Highboy have step up at door
@brianbormes65409 ай бұрын
That is incorrect. Trucks with that "step up" are the fourth gen 1961-1966 trucks, which are not highboys. Highboys are only classified as 1967-1977.5 4WD F250's, they have a narrower frame, divorced t-case, etc. Any 4wd ford F250 before or after 1967-1977.5 are not highboys. The one in this video is a true highboy 1967 frame.
