Have you added any extra weight on the back to stop any tipping when loaded up?
@oldokieworkshop19 күн бұрын
I have not added weight. Has not been a problem. If needed I could just put a 12-pack on the back and let 'er ride!

How do you efficiently get the feeder down to refill it? Do you keep the line tied off to a cleat?
@oldokieworkshop4 ай бұрын
Best way to answer: go to my website and click on Bird Feeder at the bottom left and your curiosity shall be satisfied! Website: www.oldokieworkshop.com/ Tying it off to a cleat over on the tree trunk would be too simple!! :)
@timmckeown13134 ай бұрын
How do squirrels stay off of it?
@oldokieworkshop4 ай бұрын
The squirrels can get to it. It's about 15' off the ground and 15' below the tree limb. They can't climb down to it because the line is monofiliment fishing line. There is a patio fence and a another tree nearby and they sit there and twich and bob their little heads up and down and wish...haha
@doloresturnwall32007 ай бұрын
Don’t understand why you have to use the monofilament in the first place. Why not just use the cord?
@oldokieworkshop6 ай бұрын
I used a monofilament line because it is so hard to see. At a distance the bird feeder just seems to hover in the air.

Just a thought you could use a large door hinge between the ramp and the other half and after the car is on top of the ramp Just swing the ramp part out of the way .
@oldokieworkshop11 ай бұрын
Actually, that's a good idea! Thanks!

Watched your video 3 yrs or so ago and made mine with some spare 5/8 plywood and a nice heavy duty handle. Cut it 8-10 inch wide, drilled through the plywood and attached the handle with nuts and bolts. My daughter bought a nice pickup with oversize heavy wheels and its a breeze removing and remounting the tires. Works like a charm. Thanks for the good idea.

One slight problem....birds can't see the monofiliment line and can fly into it causing injury???
@oldokieworkshop2 жыл бұрын
I have watched that feeder for hours over the years and that has never happened. The birds always fly directly to and land on the edges of the feeder, never flying over it where they might hit the line. They sit on the branches of nearby trees and repeatedly make round trips to and from the feeder. It's quite interesting and entertaining.

Excellent explanation...was just about to order a device from amazon that starts both the vac and the saw at the same time and then.....woa...that would exceed capacity of the one curcuit! No one else that I found on KZbin adresses this issue plus you show the proper solution! You will never trip a curcuit breaker. Thank you!.

CLASSIC! *Thanks!* Never thought of using tool, i made a Monkey Fist. ? .... Pulley Still hanging from branch Now with Filament - that may get caught and hard to lower Feeder for refill. ? How long does this line last? I'm trying\ planning to use old coaxial, just not sure how to attach hook securely.
@oldokieworkshop2 жыл бұрын
Yes the line could jump off the shiv and onto the axle of the pulley. Need to keep tension on line at all times to keep that from happening. The monofilament fishing line should last for years!

Where would suggest getting the big metal ring from?
@oldokieworkshop2 жыл бұрын
James: The ring I used is actually from a 'coaster' for a potted plant. I got it at Home Depot. It had 3 little balls welded to the bottom of the ring which I cut off. Unfortunately I have not seen anything like that recently. Richard
@Qu3rcusa4 ай бұрын
Michael’s craft stores sell metal rings of various diameter. I buy mine from the aisle where they stock sand, rocks, floral wire and metal wreath bases.

I use a board just like yours at work...everybody laughs at me...but this 2x4 lift works great for me..I want to add skateboard wheels in the front of board.i figure if I drill a hole to slide some 5/16 threaded round stock thru,I can bolt some small skateboard wheels on threaded shaft..

why two 110v 30A ?
@oldokieworkshop3 жыл бұрын
I installed two 30 amp circuits to the workbench because I wanted to provide for future growth. I have heaters, chargers, electric tools, a compressor, etc. plugged into them. I can divide/balance the load between the two circuits. Since there were two circuits, I plugged the saw into one and the vac into the other. That way I could start both at the same time without fear of tripping a single breaker because they are on different circuits/breakers. I could run both on a 20 amp circuit being careful not to start them at the same time, which I did for years in other houses. TWO 30 AMP circuits is certainly overkill. I guess it could be said that "I did it because I could!" :)

Thank you so much. I went to your website and used your dimensions and really appreciated the fact 2*12 gives a nice forgiving space at the top and the 24" length leaves enough room to chock incase I want to lift the front end. Perfect. I did use 2x3 on the first and 3rd levels as I had them on hand and should be fine in compression. Works great and combining the 2x3 with crib style leaves a very comfortable weight. For pinning the ramp to the "pad" I just drilled some generous holes to drop a 6" hex head bolt into.
@oldokieworkshop4 жыл бұрын
Rick: You are most welcome. Good idea on the 2x3 to reduce weight! Richard
@racheat4 жыл бұрын
@@oldokieworkshop yes they are perfect and I'm so glad I did not buy any. None I could purchase can do what these can. I found them light enough I could kick them into place and also heavy enough they didn't move. Picking up one base and one ramp, totally manageable weight-wise. Perfect sir! Happy New Year!

the WOOD Where the PINS go in is that a 2x8" or a 2x6: ?
@oldokieworkshop4 жыл бұрын
Joni: It it a 2x8 just like the one two levels below (the one on the bottom). The portion of the top where the pins go is beveled to match the angle of the ramp. Hope this helps. Richard
