Wow, nice work! Goes against everything I learned 15 years ago, but if it works, it works. What's your cell count? Greetings from Belgium.

Do you hire your corn planting done?

Eddys brother Mark does the corn planting, manure spreading and then another guy does our corn silage and haylage chopping.

Very informative and interesting - I can imagine it would be very challenging to have to trim hooves yourself. 😳😳😳

Hey Eddie, i actually talked mine to come back to do 20 some couple months ago. Boys came up and watched. But it cost me a good bit per cow but he got me caught up and now im back doing my own. Definitely a challenge when nothing is local. Surprised you can get away without a footbath. But i cant. If i stop you can tell i stop using it. Hope it keeps working for you.

Hey Brandon Glad u got him back once. This is eddy on Lauren’s account. Hopefully u can get him back again. Not sure if we will get away without footpath forever. But worth a try we figure.
@pierretteethier2054Ай бұрын
We are in free stall since 1998 and in robotic milking since 2016 and since then we have never done footbath we don’t even have a footbath. We trimmed every 5-6 months . We never buy cows from other people we are a close herd it can help to not bring problems in your herd

I agree Pierre. That’s great to hear. Where are you from?

That is interesting that you can get away with not using a foot bath. We have a good amount of trouble with hairy warts even with running a bath 3x a week. We have only been trimming our cows once per lactation but are considering trimming more often.
@dairyfarmkindoflifeАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! We are new to the freestall setting and thought we had nothing to lose to try not using a foot bath. Works for now. And yes, I think more trimming is beneficial. It’s cheaper to trim and not treat a problem, then trim less and treat more problems. We are looking forward to seeing your feeding system in full operation!
@10thgenerationdairyman61Ай бұрын
@@dairyfarmkindoflifehey if its working without a bath, I wouldn't change anything. Plan to start the feeding system up tomorrow!

We don't use our foot bath either. Hoof trimmer just treats any problems.

Ok interesting!! Thanks for sharing 😊

@dairyfarmkindoflife we scrape 2x/day with skidsteer and trim every 5 months and do only cows 200 days to just before dry. Cows also can go to pasture at night, so they get off concrete a little, which I find beneficial

Thanks for taking us along. Wet weekend but I'm sure it was good none the less. Love the fact that Eddy got a soft ice cream machine!! I love ice cream. I know the sand is a preferred bedding but it certainly causes it's share of disposal issues. Good video!
