Does the propane tank need to be manually cut off when the PID turns the Heater off after it reaches temp? My heater seems to get an extra "blast" of propane after it gets turned back on from the PID and seems to run too hot.

@@nickprice9420 I do have a little extra propane when the heater fires back up but that’s just so the heater has something to spark and turn on. As for the temp being to hot, I know mine runs a bit cold so my pod show a bit warmer then what the inside of the oven shows. I think this has something to do with the temp sensor placement.

I've used vinegar to take mill scale off for years, and it works great. Given that I tend to want my end product to be bare steel, clear coated, I always scrub the steel with a wire brush in a baking soda/water solution to prevent flash rusting. Since mill scale is the result of hot rolled steel, the bigger the piece the longer the vinegar takes to work.

I'm building a small CNC plasma table using v-slot extrusions and nema 17 motors for x,y,z axis. I'm at the stage where I will need to build the control system. I'm new to this and trying to decide what electronics to buy. Looks like I will need motor controllers (one per motor) a power supply, and a breakout board. However, I read a breakout board that connects to the computer via Ethernet is less prone to HF interference than one which only offers USB. Can you make any product suggestions for me or offer any advice? I would like to have torch height control. This software looks like a good choice. Thanks for the vid and info. Subscribed.

Thanks for watching. Some of the more pricy units use Ethernet and yes it dose help with HF however if you use shielded cable and keep the plasma machine as fas as posable from the table I have had no issue. It all come down to what you can afford. But this unit for the price and ease of use I would highly recommend.

With the type heater your using, unlike an electric element that heats static air within the unit, your forcing tons of air into a sealed box so of course, you have to let an equal amount of air OUT of the box. lol Instead of just venting the box, run an insulated dryer hose out of the box and back into the air intake for the heater. This way, your allowing the heater to still pick up fresh oxygen to burn but at the same time, your recirculating pre heated air rather than wasting all that energy into the room. The trick is to not completely block the intake or it won't get the fresh air for the burn.

Good informative video about the white vinegar for I have been using it for years. But have found something far better and cheaper and it works far quicker than vinegar. And is only £1 a bottle it's Harpic 10x and it very fast working for mill scale and rust removal, it's all I use now for it's brilliant. You can also paint it on with a brush let it sit for a short time and then just rub it off with a cloth (wear gloves) wash it and finish it with a rub of light oil to prevent rust.

My guess is the issue with your cured part was caused by back ionization. Try shooting your part at a lower KV setting and see if that fixes it. Also, you mentioned not trusting your heat gun because your part was showing 400 degrees quickly. That's such thin metal that reaching 400 would happen in no time. You could expect a pair of brake calipers (for example) to take longer. Lastly, how is your spray booth grounded? If you're not using a 8' copper grounding rod (easily sourced at Home Depot) you'll never see that gun's true potential. Mine is planted just outside the shop and I ran 12 AWG copper wire inside attached to my hanging rod. If you're cringing about driving a 8' rod into the ground (it's a HUGE PIA!), there's a way to install one in a couple minutes by hand, no tools and it's ridiculously easy. Happy to share if you're interested. Great video!

@@letkemanfabworks619 could just be the heater. those heaters have a continuous run without heat when shutting down, for cooling purposes. (when you turn on, off, on, off, etc.) no cooling. probably burning out heater internals. Heaters continue blowing cold air for cooling when shut off, your setup turns everything on, off instantly.
