When do you change feet & target vs feet only ? Also, can one put surface on a ball not used in a the competition during the competition ? Say you have a ball on the sideline & recognize it would be good if it had surface.

You’d have to confirm with the tournament director. Some tournaments allow surfacing between games. Some don’t allow it at all after practice

Never really do unless I feel like there’s a lot of oil on the lane and the oil on the ball is making a noticeable difference. Old house had drier lanes so never needed to wipe the ball. Shot I threw at Saturday had a noticeable amount of more oil but not much difference in motion due to a lot of backend.

My first ball was a 10lb, lime green, AMF Boogie ball - With conventional drill pattern. My second ball was a 14ib, AMF Powerball - with fingertip holes - that i got for my 10th birthday. Used fingertip ever since.

I wipe my ball before every shot with the large round shamois from CTD, and as others have said, it's part of my pre-shot routine. Even when I back-off a shot, I start my pre-shot routine over again and that includes wiping the ball. I use a Fast Pitch for spares and I wipe it too.

I always wipe the bowl with a shammy, whether I need to or not, as pre-shot routine to help stay focused. Funny you mention the urethane workout, try wiping poly with a leather shammy. You could hurt yourself. Equinox looks sick…there goes another $200. Oh well, I like that new ball smell!

Two questions. Does faster oil absorption mean you’ll get longer life out of your ball? Or less life since it absorbing oil? And second question, do you throw your harsh reality pearl at the out of box surface? That ball is really over/under to me the way it comes from the factory and I was curious if you changed the surface on yours and if so what surface do you throw yours at?
@jordanjungjrproshop9380
@jordanjungjrproshop9380 2 күн бұрын
I wouldnt say longer or less life, you will just have to keep up on the maintenance of the ball to ensure the pours are clean to maintain that out of box reaction. harsh pearl is out of the box yes, havent touched it but the polish has seemed to start to fade, will have to sand it and polish it again soon.

Jungo, can you discuss a little about “hook” rating? When you say the Harsh “hooks more” that means it hooks sooner, because obviously the Equinox covers more boards than the Harsh Pearl (at least in this environment). But the earliest hooking balls are the urethane balls; however they don’t ever get 9 or 10 hook ratings. What’s the story here?
@jordanjungjrproshop9380
@jordanjungjrproshop9380 2 күн бұрын
yea good question, hook rating is basically the ability to handle oil. the harsh pearl will be able to handle more volume of oil and dig in. as you can in this video the harsh hooks earlier and loses its energy earlier and therefor leaves 10 pins where the equinox retains its energy better and is able to turn the corner down lane when its a little drier
@enigmazero8624
@enigmazero8624 2 күн бұрын
@ totally agree, but my question is why then would a purple hammer not get a hook rating of 11?

Kitchen rag 🤣 Then those people tuck that thing in their back pocket while bowling of course. I wipe with a shammy before every shot, and also blow in the thumb hole. Part of it is for feel and consistency, but it also helps to have a routine to get your mind ready to throw each shot.

Even if I was able to bowl these days with the faster absorption, I would still wipe the ball off. That's part of the process. As bowlers, we find a process that works for us and then we do that for the next thirty years. 🤣

Would be simple no more bowling if our center went to string pins. Joke for bowling. Let the centers go away that can't stay open. I work at a center and repairs are not issue. Finding young workers that want to learn and actually work is.
