Becareful, the modern vehicle requires voltage all the time. On a Chevy Exqinox the tech used a jump box in the cigarette lighter socket to replace a bad battery. To many accessories these days.

In 1966 your grandpa bought that truck with nothing more in mind than just needing a family truck. He had no idea that an unknown future grandson would one day bring his memory and story back to life in an era that was no longer his. This is not just about an old truck- this is a lot of cool homage. Very cool!

I can relate...I always wanted my uncle's '63 GMC Fleetside. He had the big V-6, which had gigantic pistons...hauled an early 60's camper around the country. He always said it could climb any mountain, just not very fast, lol. Too bad he traded it off for a small Ford Ranger before he died.

My own experience was to clean the oil filter surface, , lube the gasket with some of the drained oil, screw on the filter after you meet resistance tighten 2/3 of a round never had one leak . I have seen this , my air filter left loose, a new Ford Ranger and they pulled the radiator cap(1992) and told me it failed the pressure test, No calibration on the machine.LOL transmission oil pan bolts left loose , lucky on that Ford I did not burn it up coming home. and last the tech pulled the trigger on the oil hose before he had it in the oil fill hole. Oiled the outside of my engine . I only go to dealerships now. for many many years. Quick lubes ruin more trannys and engines than you can count.

I have had the Caddy dealership mess up on my XT5 oil change. First time I did the oil change myself and….Drain plug on way too tight and when I got it off noted the built in gasket on the plug was missing. Not stuck on the pan. Screened the oil from the drain pan into a clean container…..no gasket. No doubt that gasket was missing for who knows how long. Went to the local Chevy dealer and picked up a new drain plug. The parts guy was stunned that it hadn’t leaked. Oh, and the filter? Took a bit of time with the oil filter wrench to get it loosened. Have not been back to the Caddy dealer since. That wasn’t the only problem I have found with their work.

@legalsan391317 күн бұрын
Just for reference, that oil change cost more than what you ciphered. That Royal purple was $8/quart x 8 quarts =$64. Adding a $17 filter brings you to $81 not including tax.
