12:20 So true. RPR guy here. I love my RPR I recommend that gun for the reason you mentioned. You don't get ANYTHING for free. When you tame an RPR those gamer guns or even a Bergara show case exponentially the work you put in. I got my Vudoo and 24 hours later I was one shot shy of a clean match. Not because of the Vudoo, but because of the work put in with the RPR. I Go back to it to sharpen my skills regularly. This is so true. Revisiting your starter rig keeps a razor's edge on your fundamentals. That's worth WAY more than the resale value. PS waiting for pt5. Lols

Thanks for making the content - editing is spot on and well thought out. Footage is great, too. I am going to offer one point you didn’t mention. I will qualify that comment with the fact that I own two Rimx rifles. One has 10,000 plus rounds on it, and the other has 1,000. You will at some point have ejection issues. The extractor claw is a wear component that Zermatt sells and identifies as needing replacement. If you are like me, those issues will happen half way through a match. These matches are separated by 3-5 shots between first and fifth place. That is what happened to me. Twice. I also happen to own 2 bergara B14Rs. I spend a lot of time and money to lot test ammo. No rifle is magic with all ammo. Even the Lapua test center results show extreme differences from lot to lot of center x or Midas plus. My bergaras can hang with my Rimx rifles, with maybe a slight edge to the rimx, once they are shooting their favorite lot. And the argument about shipping an action to rebarrel is weak. It’s easy to ship a rifle via usps to a gunsmith, and it can come direct back to you. You had to fill out the background check, pay a transfer fee to get the rimx.
@Shoot_More2 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback and thoughts. I touched on the extractor issue in the other videos of the series but it probably deserved more in-depth conversation here too. After talking with other folks who shoot a RimX, it seems like rebuilding the bolt yearly is good preventative practice. I have a complete spare parts kit in my pack just in case something happens at a match. I definitely should have done a better job explaining my thought about not wanting to send my Bergara off to be rebarreled. I only have one rifle, so sending the action off would've meant being down for a couple weeks and that was something I was really trying to avoid. Building the rimx while still shooting the Bergara allowed me to skip that gap. You're right though, shipping the action isn't hard. It just was something I was hoping to avoid having to do. I spent the better part of 2024 lot testing the Bergara off-camera between matches with everything from Eley to Sk to Lapua. When talking about the groups it would print, the gun was being fed the best performing ammo I could find for it at the time. That being said, I think I've become a better shooter since then. How would it do now if I tested it again? Maybe better? Possibly, possibly not. I may have come off a little hard on the B14R. I really did enjoy the platform at the end of the day, and will likely own another one in the future. All that being said, I want to really express my gratitude for you taking the time to watch the video and give me feedback. This is all still "new" to me, so I'm trying to post these videos as coming from a place of what I've learned and not that of an "expert". I hope they comes across as intended. Happy shooting!

Curious if you've experienced any push feeds with your RimX and if you are happy with the rifle? I love my RimX, but I did have the bolt head modification due to experiencing some push feeds.

No push-feeds to date with a little over ~1300 rounds sent downrange. Spent some time meticulously adjusting the mags to the chassis when I first got the action, and haven't had a single issue... knock on wood. What chassis are you running? It seems like most of the guys I've seen with pushfeed issues are using a MPA chassis, but I have no idea if there is a correlation or not. As far as the rifle goes, 10/10 happy with mine.

@@Shoot_More It was happening more off props for me. My son had it happen to him off the bench, but I believe that was due to him short stroking it. After that I decided to have Kenny at Desert Precision do the bolt mod to eliminate it happening in competition. Haven't had chance to really test it since getting it back due to weather. 1:27 this is vital and I agree 100%. This is why lot test centers use 100 meters as final decision and best results are what you see at your applied distance. FYI eley has been shit for the last year. I continue to test lots just like this and I can vouch that Lapua ammo has way less flyers specifically Lapua LR and see best lots of CX at 326-329 mms
@Shoot_More19 күн бұрын
@@EagleEyeShooting This is still a whole new world to me so each day is a learning experience, but glad to hear I’m on the right track. I picked up a couple bricks of lapua long range that I’m going to test here in a little bit now that the barrel is seasoned in. If I’m happy with how the long range acts, I’d love to just be able to buy a case and roll and not have to play the Eley lot test game. I haven’t shot a lot of center x, so I don’t have experience there. What issues have you seen with Eley?
@John-uo1qf19 күн бұрын
Lapua recommends +/- 500 rounds through a new barrel before lot testing FYI. Mach triming also should be taken into consideration when deciding on the test distances.
@Shoot_More19 күн бұрын
Appreciate that. Anecdotal, but I've got probably ~1000rds on the barrel now and it definitely seems like it settled in some which blows my mind because it has grouped really well from the first time I pulled the trigger. I'll probably end up doing another round of lot testing with eley & lapua before next season really gets kicked off. As far as mach trimming, I need to do more reading on that. I've heard of it but don't know enough about it.

I've been testing some Eley Match lots in my B14, trying to find something that shoots as well as my 2023 lot. I threw in some Eley SA Benchrest Precision for giggles and so far it's shooting better than the Match. At this point, I only shoot groups at 200 yards. I've had my heart broken too many times by ammo that shoots great at 100 and falls apart at 200+. What I've been doing is going out and shooting a 10 round group with the different lots,, and repeat 2 other days. I feel like that weeds out the "lucky" groups and gives me an idea about how different lots shoot in different wind and temperatures. I'm not a scientist, but I did take gingko biloba this morning, so....
@Shoot_More29 күн бұрын
I've heard that SABR stuff shoots well. Guess I need to stop putting off ordering some & give it a try. I share the same sentiments on seeing fantastic results at 100 to only have things fall apart at 200yds and beyond. After editing this & being able to watch the footage several times over, I am definitely changing up how I test going forward. At minimum, I'll be going to multiple 10rd groups at 200 instead of one big 20rd. The idea of testing on different days isn't something I thought of...
@scottcottontx29 күн бұрын
@@Shoot_More I'm getting 2-2.5" groups at 200 with this lot of SABR with a SD of 5 and pretty consistent velocity from 40 degrees to 80 degrees. And the round nose tends to load a little better when you are hustling. In case you can't tell, I'm trying to talk myself into this ammo. I've fallen in love with "cheap" ammo before and been burned. I'll give it one more test tomorrow, I need to buy something for this weekend. Good luck at the finale. I think I shot in the squad before you at the White Oak regional, you got me by 10 points (which is why I'm looking for magic ammo, it has to be the ammo's fault, right?)
@Shoot_More29 күн бұрын
@@scottcottontxAfter some really poor experiences with SK Long Range earlier this year, I understand your hesitancy. Hard to hit a target when you're essentially shooting a shotgun at 200yds... lol. As for the SABR, I think a 2" group at 200 will absolutely compete. That's better than what my bergara shot with tested Eley Match. Did you lot test the SABR, or just order what you could find? Small world though. I'm planning to make some trips back to White Oak for some regular matches this season. Hope to see you there!
@scottcottontx29 күн бұрын
@@Shoot_More I just bought a couple of lots of SABR that were close to the stated velocity of my good Eley Match and I got lucky with one of the lots. The other lot is throwing 5.6" groups. I've shot some very impressive groups with last year's Eley Match, but I only have a couple of boxes left of it. I have a few boxes of SK Long Range that shoot pretty good, but I had to change to an ammo that I can actually purchase when I need it. I've been happy with the Eley Match once I got an adjustable mag latch to make it feed better, but I could live without the wax buildup. The SABR may check all of the boxes for me, but I need to be sure before I commit to a big purchase. Need to check it at 300+ before I buy multiple bricks. Not sure if I'll make it to White Oak this year, their schedule is not ideal for me. If you get the chance to go to Gravestone, it's worth the drive.

@Shoot_MoreАй бұрын
I'll try and make a video showing how I have them adjusted because it's hard to explain, but you don't want any vertical movement in the mag, period. On the flip side, you don't want the catch adjusted so tight that you have to slam the mag into the action, but it should be a good snug fit with no upward travel after the mag is locked in. There is definitely a fine line between too tight and perfect. It took a little playing around to find the sweet spot, but I have had zero issues to date and I'm sitting around 800 rounds at this point. Appreciate the sub! You'll love it.
